Installing expansions/base
I'm really sorry if this is mentioned elsewhere, I did look at loads of things and couldn't find it though.
I see it says you need to install at least one expansion pack with the base game when following the instructions and when I tried it years ago it didn't work, do I need to install the expansion pack FIRST? I can't figure it out by what people are saying. When I done base first it didn't work and I'm trying it again now.

Hello,
Install the base game first, and then apply the latest "manual patch":
https://games4theworld.forumotion.com/t1870-can-t-update-the-sims-3-to-v167-fix-manual-patch
After that, you can install the expansions that are necessary...and when you're finished with the expansions, re-apply the manual patch, even if it says the game is "up-to-date already".
Now, do steps #3 and #4 here, and you should be fine:
https://games4theworld.forumotion.com/t1171-must-read-how-to-install-the-sims-3-correctly
Start the game then. Good luck !
