the Sims 3 won't save. [CLOSED] Empty the Sims 3 won't save. [CLOSED]

Hello there!

Yesterday I installed The Sims 3 University Life and since then I'm unable to save my game. It keeps saving for hours until I quit and give it up. Before that, everything went smooth with the Sims 3. I have Into The Future, Seasons, Pets, Ambitions, Generations, World Adventures and Supernatural. Moreover, I carefully followed every step described to install it correctly and applied the fix in the end. 

Any help would be highly appreciated,

In My Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 3, delete the following stuff:

-CASPartCache.package
-compositorCache.package
-scriptCache.package
-simCompositorCache.package
-socialCache.package
-plus the contents of the folders "WorldCaches" & "Thumbnails"


Re-start the game then and see if anything improved. Please us ethe option "Save as" for now, and choose a NEW name for the savegame. See if it saves, and if it does you can, from then on, choose the option "SAVE" again (= you don't have to use "Save as..." anymore).

Thabk you so much for answering Smile Im gonna delete the stuff you mentioned in "my documents". However, I never saw there is a way to "save as". Could you explain how I could do that step by step please?

If you click on the button, in the lower left corner of your game screen, there are different options, like "Quit", "Return to main menu", and all the save options too. The 3 save options are these here:

1) Save
2) Save and quit
3) Save as...

Depending on what your in-game language is, you'll have to find out where the "Save as..." option is, but it IS there, among all the other save options. Aftr you choose that option, you'll be prompted to enter a "new name for the savefile"...

Hello,
I also have the same problem and when deleting the .packages I noticed lots of XML Documents called ScriptError. I was wondering what they are and would deleting them cause any errors in my game.

They do not have ANY influence on your game whatsoever. So you can do what you want, basically. Smile  

P.S. next time, please open a NEW thread for your issue(s), instead of bumping a dead topic (= an old thread that is still unresolved, because the OP didn't post back about his/her final result). Wink  Opening new topics also makes it easier for Helpers & Mods to reply to you, since threads get less confusing that way.

I deleted all the .packages and started to play the game, then after my game still wouldn't save, even when I made a new game.

Please, try renaming your Sims 3 folder (inside of Documents) to something else (with the game and launcher completely closed). Then start the game again and make a test.

Please let us know if you can save then, so we can find out if the problem is with a corrupted file inside or outside of that folder (which means you could have a corrupted installation on the latter case).
