Installation of base game in Japanese characters. [SOLVED]

I've been having a lot problems with my Sims games recently, trying to play them again. Lately I had to do a clean uninstall of everything and decided to download the base game (I've lost my disk) from this website.

However, the installation is all in Japanese (I presume) characters... bit concerned the game will also be like this, or just won't work.

Any help would be very much appreciated! Smile

Regarding your question, if you downloaded the Base game from here and you don't have any other The Sims 3 remains on your PC (you said you did a clean uninstall), then the first screen after you start installing the base game would ask you to select the language to use during the installation. Did you select Japanese by any chance?

- I completed the installation and yep, the game appears to be in Japanese Sad

. Well when the installation first came up, it was in Japanese - so I didn't get the chance to pick a language, I couldn't select UK because I didn't know which option that was. Hope that makes sense!

I'd be curious to know since I had the same problem the first time I install into a friend's pc.
I figure it was his love for the language since a lot of things were already in japanese on his computer ...

That's an interesting hypothesis, and indeed, that could be one possible explanation. However, I haven't looked into that, yesterday. From what I saw, the display language of Windows was in English.

During that TeamViewer session, I basically attempted to do a manual clean un-install of the remaining Sims 3 registry entries and files. After that, a re-boot was done. Next, the installer showed up in Japanese, still, but we managed to pick out "English" at the beginning. And that was "it", basically.
