This Game Gets Boring Fast

I never post on this forum but I just had to come share my thoughts on this game. I am a huge fan of The Sims series. When I heard there was going to be a Sims 4, I nearly jumped through the roof. I was going to download it from here to see what it is like before I buy it but my wonderful boyfriend surprised me with a copy. I wish he hadn't wasted his money because I've been playing for nearly a week and I'm bored already. I was on the verge of telling my boyfriend to go get his money back. But I don't want to seem ungrateful and knowing him....he got rid of the receipt by now.

I'm trying to enjoy the game but it's missing so many elements that I feel made The Sims 3 so fun and addictive. I hate that you can't explore the world like you can on Sims 3. It kind of feels like I'm stuck on one lot all the time. There aren't many lots to go to at all. All of the work places and the school is invisible. You can't choose custom colors or designs for clothes and furniture. I wish there were toddlers, pools, and hot tubs among a lot of other things. My sims are annoyingly bipolar. They're happy, angry, sad, and flirty all within seconds. The sound effects that play each and every time my sim's mood change is extremely annoying. Everything about this game is just too repetitive. I really hope the updates and expansion packs make this game better. I want to like it but at this point I'd rather play Sims 3.

It's not about extension packs. It's about the fact that EA took the fun parts out of the base game. I am waiting for G4TW to release Sims4 because I can't really afford it. But til then I watch multiple playthrus and such.
I've seen what the game's on about and thinking back to Sims3, I see now that Sims4 is just a big unfinished game. The fact that they took the toodler stage out, the pools, the world interaction and workjobs n schools, those can't be really fixed due to bein in the game's freakin CODE. Ok maybe the pools can BE fixed but EA took our liberty to move around n freedom to see where our Sim works and goes to school etc.

I, on one hand, can't wait for the SIMS4 to be realeased here. There are also good bits in it. But on the other hand, even after I'll play it, I think I'll choose the good ol' Sims3.

Hey all!
yeah I am waiting for games4theworld copy as well and I check this forum regularly at least 5-6 times a day. XD
I hope we get game soon. It worries me that game feels stale after playing for merely a week for you. I get bored pretty fast too. The idea of getting stuck on one lot is worrisome. I heard that there are good bars and downtown area, are those lots not fun too?

i agree. i love the sims and this one seems so basic. i like to build and the choices are very limited. i'm still going to play but i just wish they would bring back the design tool and everything else that made the sims 3 so awesome. i think that with 3 there were too many choices as it would take me forever to pick just the right one. it's the same thing with 4 but i have to decide which design i like best out of all the crappy designs. i like that there are less choices but come on. this is like a whole new game. instead of the sims 4 they should name it "the sims for beginners" because if your new at this then your good but for simmers like us it;s not.

Even the Sims 3 base game sounded better than this. You could explore, and customize, "huge color variety and patterns", mods almost from day 1 that worked? all age groups working, and no lag in game (no excuses to sell a half baked rush job) the game was at least "at that current time" complete? you could learn skills, use them? leave your lot? use basic appliances? lol I could go on hours. I have loved every sims anything I tried, but this is not really appealing to me at all. It will take the (big gaming company labelled) "pirates, and home programmers" AGES to fix this mess as it progresses. EA gets worse, not better. All these guys, games4theworld, NRass, and MANY modders and uploaders MADE the SIMS 3 what it is. They fix stuff, and add BETTER than EA even tried to. Half of their store content, they stole from modders. (i know it to be true. i saw things in store in later releaes that started out as MODS made by people) EA left the game broken. But at least it did not start out that bad, and with almost nothing but hyped advertisements, and excuses like SIMS 4. Facepalm

lol I was excited about this game, til I watch a few videos of gameplay, and read dozens of various comments from people who have played it all over the web. Even EA's mudfuddled comments had me going, HUH? affraid

My view of this game (at least til a few hundred dollars worth of EP/SP are released, and MANY broken patches that guys like here fix?) The game looks/sounds entirely like Sleep

they do get worse. you would think that with all of the technology now they could make this game awesome. they should have looked at the reviews for sims 3 when they made this. they could have gone through the reviews for what everyone liked about sims 3. your right that it will take modders to make this game awesome. and G4TW did make the sims 3 so much better so i'm certain that over time it will become a great game

I can tell Sims 4 is going to be amazing... someday. For now it is really basic. BUT, that doesn't mean that it will not get better. They could be holding off on some features just so they can release an expansion pack that highlights that main thing (ie, color swatches, story progression, actual buildings for jobs). Besides, Maxis upgraded a lot of features, such as facial expressions, group talking, phone accessibility, stuff like that, and they actually made it funny again. Sims 2 was hilarious, Sims 3 just lacked that charm. I'm glad they brought it back.
Oh! And if you want the exploring/treasure type feel, just about every "zone" has something cool or hidden in it.
Anyways, don't give up on this game, guys! It's going to be greaaatt.

I think some people expect too much too soon. We really don't want another carbon copy of Sims 3 otherwise we would keep playing that. Sims 4 is bringing different elements into the equation and making it its own game.

that is true. i just wish they gave you a few more choices when building. i still play the game and work with what i have to make it fun. i know i've said some negative things about it but i still enjoy playing. i mean after all it's only the beginning! Smile

Honestly sometimes I do wonder if I'm expecting too much too soon. And of course we don't want a carbon copy of Sims 3 but it kind of IS. And that's the problem. The only difference is this version seems unfinished (a lot of features missing). I at least expected the game to be fun for more than a couple days. There is literally little to do on this game. I feel like I've experienced everything there is to experience on this game within a few days. Wat.

All I can do is continue to play and hope that the best is yet to come. I love a lot of the updated features but this base game seems like it was made just for beginner simmers.

All true but I am sure the expansion packs will bring things to the game that will make up for what was removed from the base game. I don't miss toddlers or pools as i never used them but others do and i can understand how they can see that as a let down. On the same note, none of us really know what is to come. I have played Sims 4 since its release here and i find it to be most intriguing and i love the way we can build our Sims. I also am in the process of searching for those two hidden adventure worlds. Before Sims 4 came out, i only played Sims 2 as I think it had so much to offer that Sims 3 didn't. Cheers.

I'm still playing and remember what I love about the sims 2, it's not about it being too "funny" or the cartoony of it.

it's about this Small moments of the sim life's that were really fun to watch, Especially when they first did woohoo.
yeas, it was a little stupid to see that cut scene, but really cute and fun lol.

and I don't think I mind not to go out from the lot that much, it just...it's so not funny when your sim die from Laughter in my opinion, it's like EA thought hard how to make the game even more stupid and Extreme with No need!! sims 2 was simple, but fun and cute in my ayes, but this one Facepalm

this one just...I don't know, really. what they tried to do anymore.

and yeas I love sims 3 too. sims 3 was Very wide and awesome but my computer didn't support him most of the time.

Point is. It cost too much, for the almost nothing you get. I am sure they will make it better with expansions, and stuff packs (oh, lets not foget the interactive items you must buy from store, to get their interactions in-game)! I am sure it (can) be "just awesome" after several hundred dollars is spent from your pocket, for things the game should have had in the first place. "as I said in previous posting on this topic" It's all about hurrying to get cash. EA does not pay their people well, and they rush them to "get a release" on the shelves. So you get a typically increasingly messy, and expensive game release, and it looks/sounds boring currently, in every way almost. It is a sloppy, overpriced launching. Why defend what it currently is, with what it "might be" someday??? lol Shocked

They seem to have reverted back to some of the sims 2 concepts... but then they don't have a lot of the good things everyone loves. I think they will probably come out with expansions that spread the game out more... like generations where we can have toddlers and stuff again... I think they were trying to make it so that lower end computers can handle the game... I wont spend my money on it lol... i will wait Razz

The facial expressions are nice and I love that we can talk with more than one person at a time too. It's just annoying how anyone nearby can join your convo but you can't get them out of your convo once they're in it. I hate the new phone. And I checked every lot and I've yet to find anything exciting. All you can do is dig and look for frogs. There isn't much to explore at all. Someone else mentioned the two hidden neighborhoods. I kinda got excited. Until I found them and realized they're not neighborhoods at all. They're pretty to look at but it's just another lot. You can't do anything in these "neighborhoods" but walk around, search for frogs, go fishing, and pick flowers. No other Sims are there to socialize with. LAME! IMO Sims 3 base game wasn't nearly this boring.

I think the base of Sims 4 is fun, but not 60 dollars(76 for me) fun. IMO I would feel the game is def worth the 60 dollar price tag if they had the open world!

I really hate how every building has to be loaded before you can go in. While its not a long wait its really annoying cause it comes up so often. Hell I wouldn't mind if they had a semi open world where they would load everything on the current neighborhood, cause let's be honest... having a loading screen for the house next door is annoying.

Besides that I hope they have a open world or semi world expansion...

Yes, that can look weird. I had randomn sims on the street not only coming "very close" to my sim, but one even made pushups near my sim.... Facepalm

Possibly a programming flaw, but we'll see.

and if you do, did they bring friends from school like in the sims 2 ?? it happen with adults too, they bring a weird black guy/ girl home and want to be friends with them lol
