Error code 12!
So, there's a new problem with Sims 3!
A lot of people got it, but I just don't know how to fix it! I can't save my gameprogress cause everytime I do the error thingy comes up! It's annoying as hell! I've searched through forums etc but nothing. So far I've read that the RAMthingy is like, gone. Or that I must remove my saved files, but I've come so far that I don't wanna remove everything!!
Do anybody know how I can fix this? Maybe a fix I can download or so?

Re: Error code 12!
I read that, but that means that I'll have to delete all my saved files. it's so complicated!
I always pause before saving and it doesen't work when I "Save as" either. Also, I don't know how to open a "Saved as" file. :/

Hello,
A "saved as" game is opened the same way as any other saved file, just load it.
I can see what you mean about it being complicated. Simply deleting the folder doesn't seem like much of a solution. Unless you have a back up of course. I haven't encountered this error myself though, so maybe someone here has and can offer a better way to fix it.
Meanwhile, I will move this topic to the right place, should've done that before but I hadn't noticed.

Re: Error code 12!
Ah sorry yes, you mentioned that before. Here's what I would try: back up your save games folder, exit the game, follow the steps as mentioned in the link I posted earlier, put a copy of your back-up in its place. That way you only loose your latest progress, if it works.
Also, if that works, make a new back up once in a while just to be on the safe side, in case it happens again.

Hi, I'm having the same problem, and I just started a new game. Maybe it is because Im installing mods for the first time?

Hi Nick,
Mods can cause problems in your game, but I don't think that's the case here. As far as I know, you don't get an error code if mods are the culprit. Problems with mods manifest itself as buggy gameplay and crashes.
Too bad you had to start a new game.

Re: Error code 12!
I have read that it is a RAM problem. I have 4096 RAM memory, is this not enough? My system is 32 bit, is this the cause of the problem? Is it possible to change it to 64 bit?

Re: Error code 12!
It is possible yes but I believe it has to do with CPU, so unless you want to replace it with a faster one, that seems a little drastic
You'd also think you have enough RAM. So I don't think what you have read applies to your situation.
But I am by no means an expert in computer hardware, maybe someone who is can drop by and shed some light on the situation.

Re: Error code 12!
I have the exact same problem, doesn't matter what I do, I allways get the error code 12 when I save. Also if I delete all my save files from the "saves" folder.

Re: Error code 12!
I absolutely hate that this code is applied to such a huge range of problems.. I didn't know people were getting the error because of hardware issues.. It's almost impossible to narrow down.. Mine stemmed from misusing a mod.. I had edited a sim in CAS and changed her lifetime wish in the process and after that got the Error code 12 notice.. Luckily the only thing I had done was edit this sim so I was able to figure it out.. So now I just brace for the error whenever I change something.. Is anything you can change back to normal if you've edited it?
