Yet another rld.dll (E0) error [SOLVED]
Hi guys, as in the title i have this problem and my girlfriend has it on her pc as well. The first time we installed the latest update everything worked fine, then we both stopped playing for a while and today found out that both our PCs have the same problem. I tried the following:
- installed the ultimate fix
- reinstalled the vc_redist, both x86 and x64
- disabled mine and her antivirus (kaspersky)
- added the files in the exception list like you guys said
- disabled windows defender
- lastly, i even uninstalled kaspersky completely, but the problem is still there.
I'm running out of ideas, please help. Thanks
EDIT: i decided to add a screenshot of Kasperky's white list, just in case i did something wrong

Re: Yet another rld.dll (E0) error [SOLVED]
Hi there!
Did you already try re-downloading and re-applying the Ultimate Fix now that your antivirus is disabled? It's possible that it deleted an important file from it, causing this error even after copying the files.
About the Exclusion list, you should try adding Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4\Game\Bin to it, too, to be completely sure.
Good luck, and please let us know how it goes!

Re: Yet another rld.dll (E0) error [SOLVED]
Ok, i tried what you said, and it worked! Thanks a lot SeoY.
I added the game/bin directory to the white list and it still didn't work. So i disabled the antivirus, re-downloaded the ultimate fix, re-applied it and FINALLY the game started.
EDIT: i did some investigations, and found out that the problem is not caused by rld.dll per se, but by a missing file which is RldOrigin.dll. This is the file that kaspersky kept deleting, so anyone who has the same problem could check if this file is present in the /game/bin folder.
EDIT2: if you have kaspersky, you can add an exclusion based on name and extension. This means that kaspersky will never scan any object with the name or the extension you desire, e.g. any object called rld or with a .dll extension or both.
When you create the exclusion, do not specify any path. Instead, just write the name of the file you don't want kaspersky to scan. I added rld.dll, rldorigin.dll, and rld*.dll just to be safe.
Maybe with this last edit i went a little too far, being a beginner on the forum and all, but i just wanted to leave a detailed answer that could help other people facing this problem.

Glad that it's working properly now! You're very welcome.
And thanks a lot for the details about the exclusion rules in Kaspersky! There's nothing wrong with that, and you didn't "went too far". It's always good to have these, and of course it may be useful for someone in the future.
Problem solved, topic closed. If you need anything else, feel free to open a new topic. Have fun!
