Ive installed The Sims 4 and i get the rld.dll failed to initialize. Ive read through the forums at other ppls posts who have had the same issues and i have done everything that they have been told to do and it still will not work. Ive added the folders to nortons exceptions, ive ran the ultimate fix, ive ran both vcredist_64.exe and vcredist_x86.exe numerous times and still i cannot get it to work. Idk wat else to try, but im about to chuck my laptop at the wall lol

Re: rdl.dll problem still. [SOLVED]
Hey!
I had a tough time recently, have not been playing Sims for a couple of months and then decided to download Sims 4.
I did everything as instructions told me, installed, but had the rld.dll (E0) problem. Then applied an G4TW Ultimate fix, which didn't help as well as installing vcredist's. Deleted antivirus, started using the Windows defender, added all folders to the exception list but still nothing. Restarts didn't help. Then I've found a video solution for this problem which actually did help me. It's in Russian, but what you basically need to do is to go and download the Crack from the link in the description, open it and replace the files in there to your games main installation folder. It only fixes the (E0) error.
P.S. The source might not be acceptable for G4TW and the forum itself, but I'm not trying to break the forum rules. I'm just sharing my experience and trying to help those, who have the same problem.

Hello weezuz and welcome,
Did you already have a look at this other possible fix here ?

As for you, you are yourself saying that "the source might not be acceptable for G4TW and the forum itself". And may I ask why you are still indirectly posting outside download links, if you "know" it might not be acceptable ? Please refer to the forum rules here (again):

And besides, the Ultimate fix from G4TW is based on RELOADED's crack anyway, so there's no need for that video.

Okay, answering to Your question, I said it might be unacceptable. I was not sure if Youtube links are that "harmful" or not. Moreover, the link wasn't direct, so there was a chance for a user to review it. As You've told, "the Ultimate fix from G4TW is based on RELOADED's crack anyway", so it shouldn't be harmful. Besides, the Ultimate fix didn't help me, and as I see now, some other people on G4TW as well, so I suppose the fix containing files might be outdated (Just a bit of highlight in case G4TW team decides to review the fix itself).
I went through the same struggle myself, spending hours in searches of the working fix. I've been playing the game with no problems since I fixed it with the crack I was talking about. That's why I took a risk and decided to help the members of this forum to finally get the game to work. I believe, that pirating Sims 4 is a complicated thing. There might be lots of problems and errors, which require different approaches and fixes. This one was posted with no advertising, spam, or any other harmful purposes. Hope this explains everything.
Although I appreciate that You have reacted and reviewed the link that fast.

If you don't know what you're doing, then please ask in advance. And yes, so far I've seen some very creative attempts by people to "bypass" the rule. A link inside a video or picture is still a link basically. Mostly though, people put dots or empty spaces inside a link to bypass the rule. Anyhow, it absolutely doesn't matter whether the stuff you post contains legit or harmful stuff. Outside links cannot be posted by "normal" users. And that is it.
And about the thing with "having a chance to review the content"...this actually refers to what is described in the rule as legit software ("genuine software", content from NRAAS, MATY, MTS, etc.). It would be pretty illogical if we - on the one hand - said that outside links aren't permitted, but then allow them under the condition that "users have a chance to review them". Wouldn't it ?
As for the error, it has been well-documented on here. As an example topic, see this thread here too.
Again, your intentions may not have been negative, and it is certainly appreciated that you attempt to help people. But please do so within the rule framework of this forum. We need to keep things tidy and organized. This is not like Facebook or any other "social media", where people can do whatever they want.
Plus, the forum host "Forumotion" (the folks that basically pay for the hosting of this forum) doesn't like to see stuff like this either. So this rule is not there because we (from the G4TW team) are trying to be "funny" or something. Any breaches in the forum rules can also be considered breaches of the terms of service with the forum host, and in consequence could lead to this forum being closed. You will understand that we need to be very strict with this kind of stuff.
The policy is pretty clear, but unfortunately, still many people are putting lots of energy and effort into finding ways to bypass this rule. And then believe that their case isn't "covered" by the forum rules.
You may disagree with our interpretation and enforcement of this rule, but then again, in the event you don't like the policies here: there are plenty of other places on the internet where posting outside links may be allowed.
Outside download links by normal users are not permitted on here. Period.

Re: rdl.dll problem still. [SOLVED]
I managed to get it up and running after ALOT of messing around.
Yes Carlos i did try everything i could find on the forums and all folders were added to Nortons exception list, i redownloaded the fix and reaplied countless times and none worked.
After much frustraion on trying to think wat else to try, I ended up having to scroll through my quarantine list in Norton and had to manually restore every single file that Norton picked up as being a virus. Once i did that i reapplied the fix once more and it was up and running. Was alot of stuffing about but i got there in the end.

Sorry to hear about your hassles, but Norton is a pretty crappy piece of software anyway. It uses a LOT of your system resources and from what you describe, it doesn't (really) accept your input about files/folders in the exceptions. Try avast Internet Security (see if you can find a pirated version of it), if you want. This is the one I am using myself. It only needs a small amount of your system resources, it is still powerful enough for "real" virusses and it actually accepts your input, if you configure it correctly.
Is there anything else I can help with ?
