I keep getting the The dynamic library "rld.dll" failed to initialize (E0). error whenever I try starting up the Sims 4. I already tried adding all of the suggested folders into the exceptions list of my anti-virus software and even disabled it but I still get the error  Sad

Thank you for opening a new topic. Smile  Have you ALSO made sure to install the latest vcredist-files ?


Check out the link:

Download and install only these following two files:

vcredist_x64.exe
vcredist_x86.exe

If you already installed that, please choose "repair" instead. After that, re-try running the game. Good luck !

I tried repairing the vcredist-files and restarting my laptop, but I got the same result.

OK, good, thanks for letting me know about this. So do you still have your anti-virus COMPLETELY disabled ? If yes, please re-download the latest Ultimate fix and re-apply it, according to the included instructions. Get the fix here:

It worked! Thank you sooooo much! My anti-virus program is Kaspersky Internet Security.
Question: Do I have to keep Kaspersky disabled to keep playing?

First of all, it is important that you ALSO add the download location of your stuff to the exclusion list of the anti-virus. So add the location of your browser downloads (Firefox/Chrome) AND the location of your torrent downloads to that exclusion list too. 

Most likely, Kaspersky also "cleaned" the .RAR file itself, rendering the Ultimate fix useless. 

As for turning the software back on, yes, try it. But if you get again issues, you know what to do: try re-applying the Ultimate fix first, and if that doesn't work, re-download it.

AGAIN, I think in your case it will be essential that you really add all the download location(s) to the exclusions too  Exclamation Exclamation Exclamation

I added the download folder into the exclusions list and the game still worked after I enabled Kaspersky. Thanks again for helping me!
