The Sims 4 "Game Packs". Empty The Sims 4 "Game Packs".

Post by The_gh0stm4n Sat 20 Dec 2014, 21:30

Now look at that:
http://www.thesims.com/news/ts4-gp01announce

Looks like the first DLC/expansion/stuffpack/whatever is going to be out in January 2015. But why is that called a game pack ? And why is this guy ("Simguru Grant") drawing parallels to the stuffpacks of TS2 ?

Is this going to be something like a "scaled-down" expansion pack ? Looks like that to me.

There's actually 1 more Packs version, i found The Christmas DLC's internal name is FP01 which the FP stand for 'Free Packs' and all of the data will be crackable. because it's the same as The Sims 3 EPs,SPs

Actually, TS4 is different from TS3 in the sense that the DLC stuff in Sims 4 is registered/connected to your Origin account. Yes, you can pirate the stuff, but probably you won't be able to "mix" cracked stuff in Sims 4 with legit games.

Unlike in Sims 3, where you could mix Origin and pirated things.

Wow..that just sounds like all types of mush for someone's computer.
People better just make up their minds whether they are going to use a pirated version or a bought version..sounds like there could be repercussions if done otherwise.
Unlike in the other games.
Sim gods of retributions could smite our computers or something...

Nah, I wouldn't go that far. Razz

But surely Sim"guru" Grant is using a lot of words in his post, without really saying anything substantial, which is also an achievement. Haters gonna hate

In any case, we're going to see much more of these DLC packs; I guess that the DLC won't look anything like the .sims3packs of TS3. These things will only be available via Origin, and also "linked" to your account, to make it extra hard for pirates.

I wondered the same Carlos, why making parallels with TS2 and not TS3 ? I still can't figure it out.
I'm not impress by those DLC I must say.

So I get you right, with my legit game I won't be able to get cracked stuff ? Oh dang ... I really didn't wanted to give EA another penny ! Buying the Sims 4 only to make objects and well ... you know, have the feel to have a legit game after the full legacy ( yes, the complete 1,2 and 3 ) all cracked.

So uncool. Really EA, after so much crap, where is your move ?!

Hi c-junkie,

At present, there is no way (that I know of, at least) that you can add pirated DLC to a legit Sims 4 game on Origin. Maybe a way can be found in the future, but who really knows ?

And I guess Sim"guru" Grant is drawing parallels to TS2, because Sims 4 really looks and feels like a modernized version of TS2, with better graphics and a few new features (emotions), lol. Times are changing, I guess.

Why.

I actually find it miraculous already that EA didn't make the game require a permanent internet connection and "cloud saving" on an external server (as is the case with more and more modern games already !). Because THEN, it would be - with all due respect to the cracker groups - nearly impossible to crack, as you would have to emulate a whole server, and not just edit a few entries in an .exe file...

Probably yes. I'm not really surprise as Sims 3 looked like Sims 1 ... looking at previews from Sims 4, I knew it would be Sims 2-like ...
Still, I think it is poor argument to explain what a gamepack is than to compare it to Stuff Pack-but-better-think-Sims2-wow-we-made-so-much

I totally agree with you. It is surprising. I gave it a thought and since EA is playing on the "cool-kid" behavior, I'm not surprise they are not doing it since they did the big pixel thingny for pirated version. Oh-so-clever-we-are-so-funny-look-at-this. They have the same policy when giving info on their updates.
I guess the biggest market isn't those following since Sims 1 or Sims 2 ( or even Sims 3 ... ATS just bought Supernatural for xmas ... ) so they are treating us all like 16 years old.

nope, when install it has been link to TS4, if it's crack all the DLCs will still be available...but if you use Origin for the gallery, it'll delink the contents, to use the gallery, you need to have a bought TS4 just like me, i just click save Lot from the gallery, and jump right back to the cracked TS4 and see the contents there....

The whole gallery issue is a totally different issue/topic. Yes, in a pirated game, you may get issues when connecting to the gallery, so you'll have to do a few additional steps.

The point I was trying to make is that DLC items are connected to Origin, and you cannot have a legit game with pirated DLC. Nothing more, and nothing less.

i love having the gallery, was a great idea. so much better than the exchange. I originally stuck with the R.G. Mechanics sims 4, I prefer them over most others in most cases. but had just did a wipe and reload of my pc and went back to using windows 8.1 from 7.

decided to get the G4TW version cause I love what you guys do, and when it comes to sims, i'd rather stick with G4TW . but upon switching over I couldn't seem to access the gallery anymore. so sadly im goin back to R.G. Mechanics. cant do it without the gallery, I got spoiled. lol.

hopefully upon the release of the new DLC's maybe the sims 4 might start getting the cracker's attention once again, and hopefully it be something they can work with. seem's like they don't pay it no mind anymore.

As I said elsewhere, the price tag (20 Euros/Dollars) would speak against that. A little too less money, for "a new town and loads of other stuff", but of course, I cannot tell for sure, yet.

It is likely though, that instead of huge expansions and stuffpacks, there will be lots of smaller "packs" like these.

No. Maybe in the future, but even that is very unlikely.

Sorry, I can't tell; since (unlike in Sims 3), we don't make the crack for TS4 ourselves. You'll have to be patient, like all others too.

So, here you go people, EA giving a nice lesson to anyone who wanted to "try" with a pirated version first and intended to be a nice person and buy the game. You will get stuck down the road.

It's all or nothing.

Thank you EA. So much consideration again for your milked cow.

In addition to that, quite a lot of people (sorry if that sounds cynical now) have also displayed some very naive judgement, by simply assuming that "cracked DLC/expansions can be added to a legit Sims 4 game". (Some) people simply "assumed" straight away that this was going to be like The Sims 3. Yes, EA have definitely learned their lesson, but again, those people maintaining the "assumption" I just described should also question their judgement, with regard to blindly buying TS4.

Honestly, those people should have at least waited a while with buying that base game. What's the point anyway of buying a(ny) game immediately after release, if you intend to pirate all the DLCs anyway later on? So that you can boast among your Facebook-friends that you're among the "first playing a legit game" ? So that you can post in a forum/blog/comments section how "cool" you are (lol) ?

I agree with you with the core of your statement. Indeed, should all have thought of it. EA would change it and it will keep changing.

Still. It might not be just about intending to buy the base game and knowingly to crack later. But how about deception ? Buying because of whatever reasons and deciding not to give any money anymore. Now, those are stick with a boring base game ( which they didn't expect )

Anyway, we could go do philosophy on the subject for hours, but I think you are a busy person Carlos, so I'll stop it Wink

No, I find this type of discussion very important actually ! Smile  I do feel sad for those people who spend 60 Dollars/Euros right when TS4 came out. Sad  But I hope that these people have learned their lesson for the future.

I still think though that you cannot/should not delegate the resonsibility of making an informed decision, to someone else (here: EA). People in general should not trust others too easily, and especially not those multi-billion Dollar/Euro corporations.

Some game publishers actually give away (some) DLC free of charge. One example is "PVZ: Garden Warfare", which is a multiplayer-only shooter on Origin. The publisher "Popcap" actually gives away all DLC for free (of course, you need to google for a little while to get to this information, though). But still, they do it, and for free. Of course you can't compare Sims games to a multiplayer-only shooter in terms of complexity. But I wish there was a bit more of this, in case of other game publishers.

Back to TS4, people could think about sharing their Origin accounts (Origin ID + password) with other people they trust, like family members or close friends. Feeling bored about the TS4 base game ? Then you could let other people enjoy it, or whatever is enjoyable in TS4, lol. While I'm not bored myself (yet), I'm sharing my Origin account with 2 very close friends, so that they can also play TS4 - and the other things. And if you configure your Origin client correctly, the other people (you are sharing the Origin account with) cannot change the password and "hijack" your account. In order to change the password, you'd have to answer a security question, which only the original owner knows. The others can "only" log-in and download/install/play the games connected to the account.

As mentioned elsewhere, EA haven't introduced something like "monthly store updates" for TS4 as of yet ? Could these smaller "game packs" be the beginning of a "new era" ? So lots of game packs, instead of monthly store updates ?

In the end though, people should "wake up" though. Things aren't always as nice as "expected".

Post by Guest Sun 18 Jan 2015, 12:37

So, i read this and other threads, and i understand that DLCs now are harder to obtain. I just want a clarification: i have a pirated version of TS4, and with the fix provided by you guys i also have the latest update. Now, free content and DLCs have to be downloaded through origin AND TS4 in order to work. Because they get linked to your account.
Does this mean that i can't have a pirated version of free stuff and paid DLCs? Copying the files in the game folder just won't work? And if so, will it in the future (i guess so, i mean i'm sure it's hard "clearing" the dlc from the digital signature linked to your account, but crackers proved that nothing is uncrackable)?

As of now, it seems indeed you cannot mix legit and pirated content is whatever form. And if it was so easy to simply "copy files in the game folder", then I guess that cracked TS4 games would have been out much earlier. Smile

And yes, nearly everything is "theoretically possible". Even time travel. But does that mean we can soon expect time machines to be invented ? Of course not (one reason being the inability of mankind to provide the necessary gigantic amounts of energy needed for that, lol). Same with the question as to whether TS4 can be cracked: of course it *can* be cracked, but that is not the main point in my opinion.

The issue is at what point the effort behind it becomes "unpractical" or even unbearable, for a lack of a better word. Remember: RELOADED and all these others don't get paid anything for their efforts. It appears to be difficult to crack, hence the fact that RELOADED took a bit longer now, and skipped some previous updates.

You "can" crack any game if you had enough knowledge. But actually taking on the work effort is a totally different question. Some just opt to not crack stuff, because the workload/difficulty is too big.
