Can i buy the outdoor retreat with pirated base game?

I pirated the base game for The sims 4, but i was wondering if id be able to buy the outdoor retreat and would it work? Thanks

I can shed some light on this.  I bought the outdoor retreat from gamersgate and redeemed the code on origin, this was hours ago and it still is not showing up in my origin account.  I contacted them and they told me I need the base game installed in order to download the stuff pack.  The game should still show up in my account, they then told me the stuff pack gets installed during gameplay so I am assuming without a legit copy of sims 4 you can't mix pirated and legit sims 4 games.  I figured this but I thought I would try it anyway.

I just don't understand regardless whether I have the base game installed or not the purchase should show up in my account even if I can't download it, there is no sign of the purchase at all it seems like I didn't even buy it.  It's there because when i contacted origin he said my account was showing the purchase then he says just to let you know you can't download this pack without the base game installed.  I told him I was buying the game from gamestop that I didn't have it yet.  He said once the base game gets installed, origin will "release" my purchase and make it available for download.  I guess he was trying to figure out why I would buy a pack without the base game.  Does installing a legit copy of the base game (digital or discs) show up in your origin account?  I realize that is probably a stupid question but I'm asking because he probably figured out I had a pirated copy of the base game when he didn't see it in my account.

That makes total sense, but maybe it might work vice versa, where you have a legit copy of the base game and not the packs!

Ok, so after some more searching I found a post that explains how to get the outdoor retreat into the game, it doesn't show up as a separate game, you have to right click on your sims 4 box and click on view details. It will be available there.  I guess there is nothing I can do at this point.  I'll just have to wait to get the game here.

So whats going on with this 

I personally have a legit copy of the base game, and was hoping the pirates out there would be able to get Outdoor Retreat to us! 

Am I understanding correctly that EA might have stumped us? It seems as though it might not be possible to get Retreat installed without it being legitimately in your Origin. I will purchase this pack likely only because I am so terribly bored of the base already but I am super bummed out as expansion packs are basically what make the game fun and I really didn't want to purchase them all but here we are!

I think somebody already said this but it appears on Origin under a dropdown menu from the Sims4 base game, that's where all of other additional content such as the Christmas jumpers and other limited edition stuff appear then you decide whether you want to buy or install them (if already owned)
You could always say that you installed the base game via a friend's account then bought the gamepack yourself

It seems you need a legit copy of the base game to get the stuff packs at least that is what I have been reading.  I bought the pack because I was hoping it would work, I agree with the base game being extremely boring and in my opinion definitely not worth $60, I have been playing for a little while but the game is so limited.  Outdoor retreat looks fun, bon voyage and world adventures even vacation from sims 1 were my favorite expansions, they added so much fun to the game.  It looks like if this does not work I am having to bend and eventually buy the base game.

I don't think at this point there is anything I can do, I'm just going to have to wait to see if hopefully it will be available here eventually. The problem with the base game is its not in my origin account, according to the tech I spoke with you need the base game installed through origin in order for the option to download it into the game.  When its installed through origin and its in your account, you right click on it in the my games section and install outdoor retreat is in the drop down menu.  I even tried adding it to my library hoping the option would be there but of course it wasn't.  I knew that wouldn't work but I figured at this point why not try everything lol.

Okay so there is still hope after all. 

I agree. I get into it for a little but then I get so bored because there is only so much to do. I was a little disappointed that there was no seasons in the base game but little things like outfit switching and no more awkward routing is a dream. I have faith in the game just need to see what the expansions will bring. The loading screens just to look at the map and stuff are driving me mental. I miss the open world but I do recognize the benefits. I was hoping that outdoor retreat would be all open or that some worlds would be but alas.

However, if they make us pay to have toddlers I may boycot the entire game lol

I play for a while too and get bored very quickly also.  I was playing a few days ago before my sim went into labor and its just the same thing over and over.  I created a post office for my sim to go and pay bills just so my sim can have somewhere to go and something to do.  I was excited for outdoor retreat for having a vacation, right now my lots are limited to a dance club, diner, community pool, chinese restaurant and a gym which my sims just seems to annoy everyone there lol.  I also agree with the toddlers, what did they do figure ok we will give them babies with arms and legs but no toddlers, yes thats a great idea lol.

i hate all forms of drm and especially origin...
since they charge exorbitant prices, don't remotely care about their playerbase..they have more chance of going boom sooner than they think with their terrible atitudes...also have worst company in america award for a second year running just underlines exactly what EA are.

They buy up all the deverlopers, buy their online awards and continously and illegally in the EU false advertise..sim city 2013 is a prime example of people getting shafted and the lies they told...and instead of fixing their game....they throw an expansion at it, and it still has ridiculous problems..no wonder the developers scarpered for new jobs outside of EA..
