The Sims 4: Get to Work. Empty The Sims 4: Get to Work.

OK, so I (briefly) tested again RELOADED's expansion, available from various torrent sites (I got mine from KAT). And to my surprise, the installation went - relatively - smooth. Here's the deal:

The download is packed in an .ISO file, which you are supposed to mount. After that, a modified installer will come up, guiding you through the install. At one point you will be prompted to select your TS4 install folder. Now, instead of selecting THAT, you should choose a pre-made empty folder, for example on the desktop.

The "installer" will extract all contents into that folder. And after it's done (which can take a little while !), the stuff that you get in THAT pre-made folder is your Ultimate fix. It contains the game update 1.5.139.1020 & the "EP01" (get to work expansion). It's pretty much the same as with the previous update.

This new Ultimate fix is about 3.12GB in size, but in case you want to release again the update separately, the remaining files have around 850MB or so.

One thing that I noticed is that in the registry location of the game, under InstallDir, there is the location of the custom folder that you extracted the stuff to (in my case on the desktop). To be safe, I edited that entry back into C:\Program files(x86)\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4. And you should do the same Exclamation

In case you don't know (anymore), the registry location in 64-bit systems is HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE -> Software -> Wow6432Node -> Maxis -> The Sims 4. In 32-bit systems it's HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE -> Software ->  Maxis -> The Sims 4

I also noted that avast now seems to be even stricter with the crack: even though I put my external drive (from which I installed everything) to the exclusions beforehand, it still "cleaned" the crack. I then simply used my other USB flashdrive, and re-copied the crack files only, and then it worked. It seems that the first time you apply the crack files, it triggers some sort of "sensor" in anti-virus programs, even if you added the exclusions properly. Overall, this guide here is still as necessary as it was when we first released TS4: making sure to add everything (even removable drives !) properly to these exclusions. That's really important.

Another idea: how about making a "superior" folder named "The Sims 4", and there you put in all the sub-folders, like the __installer, Data, Game, and so on ? And in the instructions just write that people should copy that "The Sims 4"-folder to the "Electronic Arts" folder. But the other way (as it was done until now) should be fine too. Smile

In the end, everything is working smooth, but as for in-game testing, I will be doing that on the weekend probably. I have not tested this "gallery" either, btw. But my first impression is that the game works well. Interestingly, the "installer" of RELOADED does NOT add any additional registry entries, or at least I did not notice any. So the registry remains the same, and the issues surrounding it (language change, moving game install folder to another location,...) too.

That's my "report" about it; I think that should do for now. Good luck, and thanks for your efforts. Smile  See you later !

P.S. I uploaded the "clean" crack only here:
http://bit.ly/1CAeWYL
And I will refer to it on the forum, where necessary, so that people - in theory - don't have to re-download the whole fix again in case they don't manage to configure their anti-virus programs. I only got a problem with these files, and not with the whole expansion: avast seems to have cleaned (only) the crack, nothing else. After I re-copied these crack files, everything went smooth.

P.P.S. And I would not mess around again with those "filehosters" either, because when I tried re-downloading the current Ultimate fix for someone else, via TeamViewer, most of those mirror links (including the main link to MEGA) were not working anymore. From now on, I would suggest to go strictly with torrents only. Because everything else is a waste of time, in my opinion.

I tip my fedora.

Hi there, Carlos! Very Happy

I also tested that release yesterday, as soon as it came out. But I did it with a slightly different method.
At first, I also installed it in a new folder elsewhere, with the idea of copying the files on top of the game's ones. But I noticed that it changed that registry key too. So, instead of changing it back, I started again and this time I installed the expansion pack on top of the game's files (I put the location as Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4). And it worked flawlessly without needing to change any registry values. So, that could be another method to install the Expansion Pack.

In my case, the Crack files were OK and weren't 'cleaned up' by my antivirus. I just copied them and that was done.
I did test the game a little bit, and it worked as expected. I also tested the Gallery and there doesn't seem to be any problems with it either. It works exactly as it was working until now, being accessed only from the Main Menu. Smile

Very good, thanks for the feedback ! Smile  I have no idea why avast is acting up lately...but in the end I managed to get it working either way. And yes, the Admin should definitely install/extract the download into an empty folder, somewhere, to get the files for the Ultimate fix ready.

I guess we're set and done. Now it's time for the Admin !  I tip my fedora.
