SIMS 3 - Ultimate FIX SKU?
Hi Guys,
I am trying to install SIMS 3 and all expansions from scratch - I have attempted multiple times and after spending about 3 hours each time, the game fails to start. I'm probably missing something but perhaps the how-to-install-the-sims-3-correctly instructions could be clearer?
The post says says 'DO THIS AND ONLY THIS' but then doesn't mention using the keygen or the keys - obviously the keygen and keys have to be used in order to start the install process, but what about the SKU registry changes? Do they still need to be done for WA and Outdoor Living Stuff?
All the other instructions define an order of install, but the post says Base then Gen and/or Town but then no further install order is specified - can I just install the rest at random? WA and Ambitions, etc in any order I like?
Can I test the game works at various stages of install or can it only be done at the end of the complete install process?
After stage 11 in the ULTIMATE FIX instructions I also had issues with the update process - I installed all games as per the instructions and did not apply any cracks and ignored the WA crack and Late Night reinstall instructions. After moving the files across to Gen and Town when I tried the update, Origin seemed to interfere and then I got an error updating the Base Game. Then after applying the manual patch as per another post on the forum I got a SIMSLauncherW.exe error.
Thanks for your help guys, I know how much time you devote to this, and you must get sick of answering the same questions time and time again. Hopefully this posts covered new ground as I couldn't see anything similar.

Re: SIMS 3 - Ultimate FIX SKU?
Hello,
The instructions are very clear, it really is that simple.
Don't crack the game during installation, and yes, Generations or Town Life Stuff first and all other expansion/stuff packs you want in any order you like.
That you would have to use a serial speaks for itself. The installer asks you for a serial, so you provide it with one. You don't have to change the SKU, unless you get an error about a game region.
You wont be able to test the game during the installationprocess, nor do you need to.
I would advise you to install everything, no cracks, then do a manual update to 1.24 after which you copy the crack (step 14 from the fix) to the appropriate folder.
But if your game is updated and cracked it may simply be a problem with the launcher, and you don't need that to start the game if you know how to start the game without the launcher.
We're very happy to help, so don't worry about asking questions ^.^

Re: SIMS 3 - Ultimate FIX SKU?
Ok when installing the Base Game I am asked if you want to install the latest EA Download Manager - I selected yes and assume this is ok?
Next I am installing Generations and the first this I am asked is that the game must be updated. After a while I am offered the opportunity to install Origin - Should I go with it or Cancel Origin?
//EDIT
Ok judging by https://games4theworld.forumotion.com/t1963-origin-now-tracks I dont need origin if I do manual updates?

That's correct, but there's no harm in installing it.

Re: SIMS 3 - Ultimate FIX SKU?
Hi,
With all the copying and pasting, the TSLHost.dll file is actually getting over written 3 times in the Ultimate Fix process. Similarly the TS3W.exe file is also getting over written twice. The Generations and Town files appear to be identical so copying them over each other seems to be a little odd. Not that I didn't do it before but I just thought I'd mention it. Still I'm nearly at the end of my 3rd attempt and about to run the manual update (fingers crossed).

You're right, but G4TW tries to keep applying the fix as simple as possible, so the same steps apply for everyone as oppsed to "do this if you have these but that if you have that".
Please let us know if it works!

Re: SIMS 3 - Ultimate FIX SKU?
Hi Lady E, yeah that makes sense.
At the moment I've just gone with Base, WA, Ambitions, Generations and Late Night, deciding to leave the Stuff packs alone and am pleased to say it works fine at the moment. Is it now possible to add the Stuff packs one at a time and test the game still runs okay? Thanks for your patience.

If the game works now and you want to add othe expansions, just install those expansions, BUT DO NOT apply any cracks, just install the games. After that start the game and it should all work fine!
Please do not hesitate to let us know if you have any more problems!
