Missing "vcredist_x64.exe" file. [SOLVED]
Hi! I've been creeping on the forum for a while but just decided to make an account today.
I have been playing my Sims 4 game fine and I have downloaded the packs and GTW but unfortunately none of the content will load in my actual game.
I realized when I downloaded the updated Ultimate Fix (and hoping this might help any of the DLC to show up) it says to download the vcredist_x64.exe file which I do not have.
I have repaired my sims 3 game and the ultimate fix along with the GTW pack and still the file isn't showing up.
I don't know if anyone else had this problem or would be able to help me? The game plays fine I just would really like to have some DLC and expansions if possible and I don't know if this missing file has something to do with it.
Thanks so much!

Hello and welcome to the forum,
Please navigate to the following location; there you can find the vcredist_64 file:
I do believe though that there are other reasons for your stuff nit showing up. Are you sure you closed Origin completely, before playing the game ?

Re: Missing "vcredist_x64.exe" file. [SOLVED]
I have looked in that file prior and the vcredist_x64 file is not there.
The other file vcredist_x86 is there and I have downloaded that to my computer.
I also have Origin completely closed as it never showed up to begin with when I start the game.
What other things do you think this would be?

Another possibility may be that you have a 32-bit Windows systems, in which case you should ignore this thing then. Are you sure you installed the stuff in the right order ?
Make sure to apply the files from "Get to Work" AT FIRST. And then - after that - you apply the files from the latest Ultimate fix. And then try the game again.

Re: Missing "vcredist_x64.exe" file. [SOLVED]
I just did all of that and still no luck.
My only idea is maybe that origin is still on and I have yet to disable it completely?
Would there be a way to double check this/anyway I can know for sure I have completely closed origin? Or maybe I am just dumb Thank you for the quick response!
EDIT: Nevermind, I believe I do not have Origin open because
This does not pop up at all (I took the picture from a topic I was looking at)
Nothing Origin related pops up

At this point I can't tell what you may or may not have done. But have you made sure to configure your anti-virus systems and the Windows firewall too ?

See the post I made there. Also, Origin is completely closed when all Origin-related windows/prompts are closed too, so even the one that prompts you to enter the Origin ID and password.
In case of doubt open the task manager by pressing CTRL + ALT + DELETE. Look for anthing Origin-related there (usually, the processes are named "Origin"-something there). Right-click on the stuff and choose "close/end" or whatever the wording is.

Re: Missing "vcredist_x64.exe" file. [SOLVED]
I followed that and my Windows Firewall is configured to the settings and I double checked and Origin is not running while my Sims game is playing.
It's really alright if I can't get the DLC and GTW. I just thought it would be cool to have the extras but my base game plays fine.
I don't really know what else to do as it seems that it just won't work for me -___-

Might be insane, but I've seen a lot of people making this following mistake:
are you sure you copied and pasted the files from "Get to Work" and then the "Ultimate fix" into the correct location ? This location is C:\Program files(x86)\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4.
It is NOT the My Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4 - location.
If there was a problem with anti-virus or firewall systems, you would not be able to run the game without Origin. But it seems you can run it fine - without Origin being online. And I conclude from that, the possibility that you did something wrong during installation.
Your mistake is probably something very simple to resolve, but let's see...

For the future though, please look more carefully at the included instructions in our downloads; these instructions are there for a reason. Other than that it's good to hear that this fixed the problem. Have fun, and feel free to open a new topic anytime again.
Problem solved, topic closed.
