trying to update. 'The Sims 4 has stopped working' PLEASE HELP!

Hello! I've been using G4TW's Sims 4 torrent for a few months now without any problems, but for some reason, I've experiencing a problem today. Here's what's going on:
I haven't updated my game ever since I downloaded the original torrent (so really, this is my first time updating); I have installed the Ultimate Fix before though, so I've already had both vcredist files installed. I downloaded the fix to upgrade to 1.5.139.1020, I followed step 3 (since I had already done 1 and 2 in the past), and this is what keeps showing up:
I repaired the vcredist files, double checked that support, game, data, and installer folders were still under 'exclusions' in norton security suite, made the game > bin folder available to all (or whatever that tutorial I saw was), but I keep getting this window. I'm honestly confused on what's happening, I never had this issue installing the fix for the Sims 3, is there something I'm missing? Am I just having a blonde moment and I'm leaving a step out? Any help would be appreciated

So I figured out how to replace the files (copy and drag), BUT now when I open Sims 4 (having Origin open in the background), it'll start up, but when it gets to the second screen (where it shows the sims doing various activities), the screen stays white and a window pops up that says "The Sims 4 has stopped working" and I have to close the program. Is this because I have Origin open?* Can someone help me out?
*it's doing the same thing with origin closed. this is really stressing me out.

Should I have Origin open or closed? I need Origin open to run TS4.
