Want to start a new game, the play button doesn't work

I downloaded The Sims 3 Pets expansion. Now I have chosen a neighbourhood called Appaloosa Plains and would like to start the game but the play button doesn't work. I can click on it but nothing happens.

Hello randomsim and welcome to the forum,
You probably used the cracks that came along with the Pets-expansion you downlaoded. But this cracks is outdated. You need to re-do the steps #2, #4 and #5 from here, and your game should work fine then:
