Get to work no sims on lot

When I join my sim at any of the gtw jobs there are no other sims on the lot so I can't complete any goals involving patients or co-workers. Also with the detective job there are no crime scenes, it just sends my Sim to someones house and I can't complete any goals because there is no actual crime scene.
-I have another problem that isn't about get to work which is when I click play my Sims aren't on the lot and I have to make them travel then go back to the house, and whenever I knock on someones door at any time it says they aren't in

Maybe the newer version of the game did fix your issue?
