The Sims: Medieval monarch problem. Empty The Sims: Medieval monarch problem.

I am having trouble with this game. i get as far as needing to have a monarch. when i click on create monarch, the game goes to the loading screen and then nothing. it isn't freezing because the pinwheel is still moving and i still have music. i am running windows 7 with I7 processor 2.0 ghz 8gb of ram and Radeon HD 6770 graphics card. Please help.
