CRC Error.
I got an CRC Error when i was installing The Sims 3 and it says the file doesn't match the one in the setup's .cab file. I mounted disk 1 and read the instructions, but I am still lost. Any help?

Hello and welcome to the forum @AlexSimmer,
As stupid as it sounds, you made sure the torrent download finished 100% in your torrent client ? And which extraction program did you use on the .RAR file ? Please only use the program WinRAR for extraction.

Re: CRC Error.
Thanks Carlos! I used WinRAR to extract it and the download finished a week ago.

Alright then...do you still have the torrent running in your torrent client ? If yes, then right-click on the torrent and then select STOP. After that, right-click on the torrent again and you should see an option named "Force re-check". This process can take a while, but after it is done, exit the torrent client, and try installing again.
But as mentioned, this will only work provided that you still have the torrent of the Sims 3 base game, running in your torrent client, either as "seeding" or on pause/stop...

Very good to hear - and it reminds us of the importance of keeping torrents running in the torrent client, even after the download has finished. And yes, feel free to keep us posted in this thread here if you have follow-up questions.
You may also want to (re-)read this here, too, if you plan on installing the expansions/stuffpacks:

Good luck again !

Question: Restarting/Installing Expansion/Stuff Packs
This is not a problem, just a question. Should I restart my computer everytime I install an expansion or stuff pack? I want to install
University Life, Generations, and Fast Lane Stuff for now, but not sure if I should Restart after I install them. Any suggestions?

//MERGED
I merged your post to your old topic. For now, let's keep all discussions about the same game in only one thread.
And no, there is no need to restart the game at all, when installing expansions/stuffpacks. Typically, you restart the computer when removing or uninstalling things.

No problem, and please do post back if you encounter follow-up issues !
Tip: once you managed to install everything successfully, COPY all those Sims 3 downloads, and back them up on an external hard-drive or another similar place. Don't remove the downloads from their original download location, instead just copy them, and paste them elsewhere. That way you don't have to re-download them in the future again.
