Random "Sims 4 stopped working"
Hello everybody.
I downloaded and started using the G4TW Sims 4 recently, but I've got a recurring issue I can't seem to be able to fix by myself
My game keeps crashing. With no apparent reasons. It just randomly closes and I get the "Sims 4 has stopped working" message.
I tried the solution offered in another post of this section, which seemed to work super fine, until now. Back to a crash every.. 15/20 minutes I'd say.
Any ideas?!
Thanks

This is written for Sims 3, but you should be able to apply it to Sims 4 too. Focus on step #2 for now, and add the TS4.exe of your base game install location to the "DEP exceptions".
Also, download the "4GB patch" from step #3 and apply it to the TS4.exe again. Wait for the message "executable successfully patched", and close the 4GB patch.
Then try the game again. Good luck and keep us posted !

Re: Random "Sims 4 stopped working"
Hello!
I have been having the same issues as of late so I thought to uninstall all custom content I had recently installed. No help. At first it would crash when I tried to edit my family in CAS and then when I traveled. Now it's just crashing randomly.
I did the steps for the DEP and the 4gb patch. I restarted my computer but now when I try to launch TS4, i get the "dynamic library failed to initialize" error which is new for me. Should I now install the ultimate fix?

Hi there!
Please, make a new topic for your issue. Even if the problem seems the same, each of you could need a very different solution. That's why it's best to keep each user in a different topic.
We'll be glad to help you after you've created the new topic.

Re: Random "Sims 4 stopped working"
Hello there !
So I've just done step 2. (btw, there's only one file to put in DEP for the Sims4 right?)
When I try to apply the 4gb patch, however, I get a "couldn't open executable" no matter how I try. (admin mode, changing root folder...)
Yesterday night though I played at least one hour without crashing... I deleted every household not in the world via household management right before playing and put the game in low medium (while before it was in medium) and windowed mode.
I'll let you know how it goes today !
Thanks for your help !
EDIT //
I now get a fatal error "The dynamic library "rld.dll" failed to initialize (E1103)"...
Note that I can't install the vcredist-x64, for whatever reason... But the game runned fine before... I could uninstall and reinstall it but... Am I sure that I will be able to play my game again if I keep a copy of the "Save" files..?
EDIT 2 //
So as I encountered the dll error earlier and the solution was to uninstall, that's what I did. I kept my saves and uninstalled and deleted every sims 4 files.
Then I installed it all over again, carefully applying every step in your installation guides. (game + fix) except for the part where I install the vcredist-x64, but I think that's because I use Vista.
I put my saves files back in the "new" electronic arts folder and the game started fine.
Now I'll see about the "back to desktop" problem but hopefully it will stay as clean as last night...
I'll let you know. If it does it could mean that the graphics settings are involved...

Yes, you should be able to use the savefiles from before, too. And yes, you can try reducing the graphics settings, in your in-game options menu, or even playing in "windowed mode". Do keep us posted !

Re: Random "Sims 4 stopped working"
Hi there!
I don't have any interesting news, sorry about that
After installing the game again, I put it back to windowed mode, with low-medium graphics, and I played at least 3 to 4 hours without crashing.
BUT the first time I installed it, it ran fine the first couple of days too. Anyhow, it's working for now, (except some minor in-game bugs for which I might (or may not) open a new thread) so... If anyone comes accross the same "back to desktop" problem, sorry but I don't have anything better than the household management trick or lowering graphics options...

I've been having the same problem, and tried to perform Step #2. However, I got the error message that I can't turn off DEP for this program. I'm also confused as to whether I should only ass TS4.exe to the exceptions list or all .exe flies in the Game/Bin folder - as mentioned in the linked post for Sims 3.
I also tried the 4 GB patch, but got a dialog box saying "couldn't open executable!"
