Sims interaction and other error fixes.
Most errors appear due to inadequate mods.If mods are outdated or clash with the newest patch/expansion.
Latest problem is ''the interactions not working'' error. It appears due to mods that alter/change/affect the game experience such as PregnancyForEveryone. The error can be fixed by a slow but simple process-removing such mods.Remove them and if the error persists,hand-filter all of them.To that by testing groups of several mods at a time.Example-Run the game with 10 mods.If it works, try another 10 and so on.
Another error I encountered due to mods is unable to even start the game. That appears, from my experience, due to outdated mods.Once again you have to filter them by hand but the advantage is you dont have to run the entire game to see if it works. If its starts, you are good and can close the game faster via task manager. If it doesnt run it means 10 mods you are checking have to be checked 1 by 1.
Hope it helps.

I use the program Mod Conflict Detector by Dmitry Malfatto available at Mod The Sims. There is also a video tutorial available to learn to use it, but it's pretty straightforward. It just scans the mods folder for you, and lets you know if what all the conflicts are, and they're color coded. It will show unpacked files, incompatible files from other games, duplicate files, etc. You can delete them from inside the program, or do it manually. I remove them manually so I can do it from my downloads and backup folders as well.

Hello and welcome to the forum @ReuseCrafter,
These tools that are able to "detect" mod conflicts may help a little, but ultimately, you should take what these tools tell you only with a grain of salt. You shouldn't rely too much on these things. The safest way here is probably not to use too many mods & custom content, so that you don't have much to do when a new patch is out.

Re: Sims interaction and other error fixes.
Right, I know what you mean, and I should clarify that I find this works best for custom content and not game play or script mods. I can often find most problems with this first, as it's often a duplicate file or wrong file type in custom content. Once those are eliminated, that often solves the problem. I usually remove the game play mods and scripts before running the scanner on custom content.
If that fixes the problem, then I put the mods/scripts back in and try again. If it isn't resolved, then I slowly add back in mod/scripts little by little as mentioned above. These are the ones that often cause problems after updates and new releases. Many will be "broken" until they are updated. For this reason, I do limit these type of "cheat" mods to the ones I find most essential.
As for custom content, though, I have gigs and that's really what makes the whole game for me. In ~15 years I've never played vanilla for more than a few days before going crazy, as I don't really follow standard game play
