Hangup When Trying to Install Sims 2 Complete Collection. [SOLVED]

I'm running into an ongoing issue when trying to install The Sims 2 Complete Collection, at Step 4 (installing Pets).

When the installer is just about finished, it brings up a dialog box stating it will check for updates (which is normal, it looks like. The Open for Business install did the same thing). However, this time around it actually runs the installer which immediately fails, and terminates the installation, not giving me a chance to run the patched installers for the update and letting me continue with the installation.

I have tried installing both online and offline, with the folder for Pets in the main directory and moved to a different location, and I did extract the files.

That is an interesting glitch (?), which unfortunately doesn't sound familiar to me right now, but let's see. You do have all available Windows updates installed ? What about the DirectX that is located in the download, under The Sims 2 (Base game) - Double Deluxe Edition\DirectX - please run the file dxsetup.exe if you haven't done so yet.

And you did extract using WinRAR too ?

Also, try downloading and installing "Your Un-installer Pro", which I uploaded here.

Install the program according to the included instructions. Open the program then and see if "The Sims 2 Pets" shows up in the main window under "installed programs" there. If it does, double-click it and select "Super Mode". Follow the on-screen instructions and when finished, please re-boot the computer. Then try re-installing The Sims 2 Pets.

One more thing: are you getting any error messages when that installer aborts the operation... ?

Would you believe that when I went to try the install again in order to tell you what the error message was, it installed just fine and I was able to finish the installation completely? Because that happened, but thank you for responding! Very Happy
