Unable to start error?
( sorry if this problem is in the wrong part and/or I didn't dig deep enough through the website to find a solution.)
I had the base Sims 4 (store bought and had the most recent game update for January) and Origin on my computer but I uninstalled them both so I could get free expansion packs .
I followed the directions on here. I torrented 2 expansion packs and the Sims 4. I extracted the Sims 4 with Winrar. I put the file in the proper folder. Then when I click TS4.exe to play the game, this message pops up. Does this mean I did not delete a file from my most recent game play? Lol I am just lost so can someone tell me what to do?
I also haven't extracted my expansion packs, if that makes a difference.

Re: Unable to start error?
Hello and welcome to the forum @KathyRad,
Some users reported that deleting the file named GameVersion.txt, located in Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4, already helps solving the issue. See also the thread here for more details:

Good luck for now and feel free to keep us posted !

Oh tysm!
So I cracked my Get to Work expansion, copied, checked my game to see if it worked ( it did) then I did the same for the Get Together one..
but instead I got the Origin isn't running error.
I googled and on past forums it says I need to uninstall and reinstall?

Is your installation folder of "The Sims 4" still under C:\Program files (x86)\Electronic Arts ? If so, please move the folder OUT from "Electronic Arts", and for example directly under Program files(x86). Delete your old desktop shortcuts for the game and create new shortcuts - then try the game again.

What is your anti-virus system, and did you make sure to configure all your "exclusions" properly ? Feel free to have a(nother) look at these topics here:

Especially the second thread. Not sure though if these small tips can help you though...

Re: Unable to start error?
I looked through them. Nothing worked.
Should I just start over?

By "starting over", I'll assume you mean just uninstalling the games ? If so, yes, that can indeed be an option. Assuming you already configured your Windows Defender & anti-virus exclusions properly, uninstall your games and re-boot the computer. After the re-boot then, re-install the games.
Good luck !
