Missing sims and words. [SOLVED]

Hi
I downloaded and installed all the sims 3 expansion packs from here and I also downloaded the ultimate fix for sims 3. The problem I am having is when I load the game there are words missing and when I go to create a sim sims my sim doesn't appear. I followed all the instructions for the installation. Have I missed something or do I need to uninstall and reinstall the whole lot again? i hope someone can help as I love playing sims 3 xx

I've tried that and it doesn't make a difference. I'm also missing the pictures when the game is loading. I also tried to change the SKU value and that didn't work xx

I've installed the manual patch and now its asking for the disk xx

I've sorted the problem with the asking for disk but the patch has made no difference. The sims are still missing in create a sim and there are still words missing xx

Sorry I dont know how to. The game loads fine. When I get to the bit where I can choose what world I want to go into there are some words missing. I can choose what world to go to and then when that is loading all I get is the bar showing how much progress it has loaded. The world then loads ok, apart from again a few words missing and when I go into create a sim everything is there apart from the sim and it doesn't matter whether I change the gender, age or use a pre made sim, they simply are invisable xx

I'm not sure what to suggest at this point.
To take a screenshot, you can use a button on your keyboard, it's above the "backspace" and it's called PrtSc.
Then, you can paste in a program like paint, save and use the image host on the forum to upload it here. The button to do that is in the middle of the row on top of the reply window, it looks a little like a polaroid with a floppydisk.

Ok I will try and upload some screen shots xx

Everytime I do a screen shot and try and paste it into word or paint, it just comes up with a black screen. I think I might have to unistall all the sims 3 and then try and reinstall it again xx

That's why I mostly play games in "windowed mode" - it makes it a lot easier to take screenshots (of interesting things). Smile

Once you are in windowed mode in The Sims 3, you can press ALT + PRT-SCR, and then minimize your game window. If you then open Paint for example, you can press CTRL + V and if everything was done correctly, a screenshot should be made now about your Sims 3 screen.

That aside...you are (really) sure you applied the latest Ultimate correctly and that you also replaced the old/existing files ?

Yes I followed the instructions step by step. I am now reinstall all packs but without using the crack folders and I am just going to use the Ultimate fix. Hopefully it will work. I will give you an update when I have done all this xx

Hello,

Make sure to restart your system after you've uninstalled. If you don't, there may be leftover registry entries and the game won't run.

Hi all,
I have managed to get the game running properly now. I reinstalled all packs but did not use the crack folders that were in each one and just used the ultimate fix and it worked. But now I have another problem. I installed some custom content and while in create a sim I can create a toddler , child and teen but whenever I go to create a young adult and above I get kicked out of the game and a box comes up saying sims 3 is not responding. Do I have to unistall all custom content or just what content is for young adult and above? Thanks for all your help so far, hopefully this will be the last problem I have xx

What kind of custom content is that - is that in the .sims3pack or .package file format ? If it's in .sims3pack format, you're going to have a very hard time un-installing or filtering these items, which will essentially need to be un-installed with the (horrible) launcher.

If the custom content is in .package file format, your task will be slightly easier because you can simply remove those files from Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Mods\Packages.

My suggestions is that you prefer custom content in .package file format, as they are much easier to handle than .sims3pack files.

Glad to hear you figured it out. Very Happy

Keep in mind though that many .sims3pack files contain more than just one (1) .package file. In general, it is recommended that you merge those .package files; see this topic here:

Note that you should only do this with items such as CAS stuff or build/buy-mode objects. Do not merge mods for instance !
