How to play The Sims 2 in windowed mode.
Those of you who want to play The Sims 2 in windowed mode, can apply a (relatively) simple trick to do so, since the game itself does not come with an integrated option in its menus for selecting windowed mode. Right-click on the desktop shortcut with which you normally start the game and go to "Properties".
Under the tab named "shortcut", look at the line that says "Target". By default, the line will show the location of the .exe file that the shortcut links to, enclosed in quotation marks. After the last quotation mark in the line, you need to press the spacebar once, and then put -w...
Click on "Apply" and then "OK" to save the changes. In my case, since I am using all expansions/stufpacks, my example shortcut links to the .exe file of "Mansion and Garden Stuff". The location of this .exe file is by default C:\Program files (x86)\EA GAMES\The Sims 2\Mansion and Garden Stuff\TSBin\Sims2EP9.exe.
Now after making the modifications, the line under "Target" (see above screenshot) should look like this:
"C:\Program files (x86)\EA GAMES\The Sims 2 Mansion and Garden Stuff\TSBin\Sims2EP9.exe" -w
In-game, you can modify the size of the window, by selecting one of the available screen resolution options, under the "Graphics/Performance" options. You could also edit your GraphicsRules.sgr file though; for a more detailed account on that, please refer to this topic here.
That is all for now - have fun again !
