Illegible Text In Installation Window. [SOLVED]

I searched for a solution before posting this topic, but I only found one other poster with a problem like mine. He seemed to be having identical problems to me, and the suggestions he received included "Don't tamper with any of the code unless you know what you're doing" (which I haven't done) and "Try deleting and reinstalling the program" (which I have done several times). Reinstalling the program seemed to work for the other poster, but I've redownloaded the entire 5GB and change torrent about five times now with no luck. I also haven't touched any of the code after downloading it. I download the torrent, open the containing folder, unzip the files to their own folder in my Downloads folder using 7zip, mount both the .iso files, and launch the Sims3Setup.exe from the The_Sims_3_StartDisk/SIMS3 disc file. As far as I can tell I've done nothing outside the instructions provided by the website or the torrent itself, and I'm getting very confused by what seems to be an almost completely unique problem. I really have no idea what I can do to try and fix this, so I'd really appreciate some help.

Also, as a sidenote: If I progress through the installation program regardless of the illegible text, I eventually get to the screen that asks for a product code. The installation guide provided by the torrent itself says that I should generate a product code from the Crack folder, but the Must Read Sims 3 Installation Guide on this site seems to say I don't need to use the Crack until after I've installed everything I need. I feel like I must be missing something because I'm not sure there's a way I can follow all the instructions in the Must Read guide without using the crack, and yet it says not to. Some clarification would be much appreciated too.
