As the title says, I have distinct lack of packs on the launcher, I'm also getting script errors with the launcher.

Welcome to the forum.


You can ignore the script error, it happens all the time and there are no known consequences of it.


As for your other issue, I'm uncertain whether you mean files with the .sims3pack extension, or .package. Can you clarify?

Sims3pack files specifically. Although I just noticed that the sims3pack files have a different extension

No, they're literally sims3pack, as opposed to what I thought they were, .pack. I guess the confusion is stemming from me not knowing where sims3pack files go.

Alright, make sure that all the files really have the correct file extension, .sims3pack.

Other than that...if you find yourself having difficulties with that (highly glitchy) Sims 3 launcher, there might be an alternative way to install those files:

CCmagic actually worked for everything BUT the worlds. Lunar Lakes etc. Is there a secret trick to actually getting my worlds to work?

CCmagic doesn't install worlds, so that is correct. 
You can double-click each file to install them separately, or put them all in Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Downloads and install them through the launcher. 
Note that the first method will still open the launcher, so if it won't start, please let us know. That script error shouldn't interfere with that.
