Sims 4 black screen and music Empty Sims 4 black screen and music

Post by Guest Thu 11 Aug 2016, 14:21

Hi, yesterday I applied the ultimate fix and no longer can play the game. It opens, but all I can see is black screen and music. If you move the mouse, you can see where the buttons are supposed to be, but can't do anything.

Before the ultimate fix I've played with get together pack and everything was fine.

Followed all of the instructions, moved the folder, excluded folders, updated drivers, etc.

Today I did a clean install, everything in order. Tried opening after Base game, Get to work and Get together - every time the game opened just fine, bus as soon as I installed ultimate fix, black screen and music occurs.

Pleeeease help, thanks

Try opening up the options.ini file in the Sims 4 folder of My Documents.
And change it from reading "fullscreen=0" to "fullscreen=1".
Relaunch the game in fullscreen mode. See if that helps.

Do you have CC/mods in your game? If you do, MOVE your Mods folder to the desktop. Then start the game and test to see if the issue is still there.

You use 2680 MB in the page file.
This means that you have various programs starting together with Windows
Rightclick on Start - Taskmanager - Start Up
Look at the items there and  de-activate unneccessary items

Press Windows + R
Type msconfig en click on OK
Go to Services and check hide all Microsoft-services (very important)
Uncheck unnessesary items - clik on Apply and OK
Re-boot your computer.

Unchecking items does not mean that you delete these items from your computer, you can use them whenever you like, but they do no longer start automatically together with Windows when you boot-up your computer.
In msconfig I always uncheck all items except my anti-virus.

Furthermore I have yet to see a suitable Intel Graphics Card for the Sims-4 that can play the game on the highest level.

Maybe you have switchable graphics.
Rightclick on start - choose "Apparaatbeheer"- probably in your language something like device management.
Open Display adapters en see if there are more than 1.
When besides your Intel also another Nvidia or AMD shows up you have switchable graphics.
You should then couple the Sims 4 to this Nvidia or AMD adapter.
Tell me what brand it is and I can give you instructions how to fix that.

What you're looking for is indeed called "Device Management".
You can also easily open it by opening the Start menu, typing devmgmt.msc and then pressing [ENTER].

(Or [WINKEY] + [R] for Run, then type devmgmt.msc and press [ENTER])

Thank you, Tarac, did all of the steps, unchecked some items, but that didn't work.

I have no CC or mods, plus changing to fullscreen and vice versa didn't work.

I have AMD, but the sims .exe files are set to high performance.

Rightclick on an open space on your Desktop
You will see something like AMD configuration
Click on it and choose configure switchable graphics
Then in switchable configuration Settings, look for T3.exe and add it to high performance

Yes, for some  older graphic cards windows 10 has no suitable driver.
Look at the site of your computer manufacturer and download the required driver.

Maybe you have switchable graphics.
Rightclick on the Windows logo (left on the taskbar)
Select Device Manager
Open Display Adapters

When you see more than 1 adapter, you have switchable graphics.
Rightclick on an open space on your desktop and look for something like AMD management
You should be able to configure The Sims in such a way that it always uses the better graphics card.

win10 and sims4 worked fine for me. everything up to get together works fine, then right after installing Ultimate, all i get is black screen and music. and none of the solutions above work, neither switching graphics, nor installing the latest drivers, doing the clean install with no cc, etc. oh the mystery..driving me insane
