Can't do anything after game loads...

hi everyone, i'm in a sort of pickle.
i start up the sims 3 after having just installed 'into the future', but i can't do anything.
when i click new game, the button greys out and it just leaves me stuck there.
the menu opens but there are no options to be clicked, just 6 empty spaces where the menu options would be.
there 'select neighborhood' thing is also blank.
all buttons are clickable, but they do nothing at all.


any ideas?

i've also followed the installation instructions step by step

guess i'll try re-applying the patch/updates again x.x

edit 3: when attempting to patch the game from version 1.67.002 to 1.67.2 (you guys' patch), i get this:
unhandled exception
error number: 0x80040702
description: failed to load dll: dsetup
setup will not terminate.

the only option is "ok", and clicking it dismisses the dialogue.

Are you sure you tried using the patch from step #2? After that, please do steps #4 and #5 too, and see what happens.

Sorry for the late reply,

At that point, try uninstalling your base game of The Sims 3 only, then re-boot the computer. After which you re-install the base game and re-apply the 1.67 manual patch & Ultimate fix (a.k.a. steps #2, #4 and #5 from this guide here).
