Sims 3 Into The Future Virus
Tonight I decided to torrent TS3 ITF, and immediately upon restarting my pc, I had a very serious virus. Now I have no sound, no Internet connection, cannot system restore, and cannot reformat from the typical restore to factory option. I'm still not sure what to do. I can boot up, but that's it. Can't add/remove, and the Antivirus no longer works either. Everybody should beware, it's obviously no coincidence. Maybe this is what I get. Sorry if this doesn't comply with posting rules, but everyone should know and hopefully something can be done. Before someone says "came from something else," it didn't. I hardly even go on the Internet with that precious pc, and this was the only download I had done in ages.

Hello @pepsichicster and welcome to the Forum,
Sorry to hear about that. Are you positive you downloaded the G4TW file from either the official website or the official TPB-account ? Does whatever you downloaded include an #Installation guide.txt file and if so, do you think you could post screenshots of the guide, here? Note that we only take responsibility for Games4theworld-downloads, and not for any torrents from other uploaders.
In general, all our downloads are tested prior to release. If there is any manipulation going on, it would have to be someone who downloaded the intact .rar, manipulated the contents of it, and then seeded the torrent back into the system. That is technically almost impossible with torrents to happen. And you can rest assured that this would have to be done by a very nifty computer specialist. I myself haven't heard of such an operation taking place in practice, though theorists claim it is "doable".
You should also take into account that malware can be transmitted by more means that just the internet, which is often underestimated. Things like CDs, DVDs, USB-flashdrives, or even if that computer is connected to other computers through an Ethernet/LAN-cable. Also take into account that malware can trigger with delay, and your downloading anything may be a (very unlucky) coincidence.
We get messages like these from time to time, and the argument I mostly use in these cases is always the same: look at the Forum and everything around it. If we wanted to spread malicious software, why would we be running a Support-Forum with 150,000 messages (and growing)? Merely "cover"? There are cheaper ways, if we really wanted to create a cover.
Ultimately it's up to you whether you trust our judgment, or not.

Posting (constructive) criticism is always allowed here, as long as you keep all discussions civil and also acknowledge that other users may have different experiences or views than you.
