Sims 3 Pets exploded.

I'm actually having the same problem as a previous poster. Their thread is listed as "solved," but the fix mentioned in that post does not work for me.

The game crashes when I attempt to start a new game. The crash happens at the same point on the loading bar with every neighbourhood. I have no mods and no custom content installed (not even Store items). All the games are patched to the latest versions and all the cracks have been applied. I even used the Sims 3 Repair Utility from Mod the Sims to generate new cache files and when that didn't work an entirely new User Data directory. I then re-installed each of the games. That did not work. I am positive that it's a problem with the Pets download because the game worked perfectly without Pets installed.

It also might be worth mentioning that I'm having some issues with the
GUI not showing up properly. For example, the check marks on pop-up
menus do not show up - they're just grey boxes. And the pop-up when I
click the ellipsis to bring up the options menu is transparent.

Besides, do you have any Mods and/or Custom Content?

I have tried ALL of the listed solutions.

I said in my original post that I DO NOT have any mods/custom content.
