SIMS 3 CLEAN INSTALL/GAME LAUNCHER FAILURE
Hi, Just reinstalled Sims 3 today excited to play again after about a year. I have the base game, Late Night, Outdoor Living, High-End Loft, World Adventures, Ambitions, and Fast Lane all purchased legitimately. I decided to go ahead and grab Outdoor Living, Town Life, and Pets off of Pirate Bay.
The install directions worked perfectly and game ran fine. Problem was my custom content (hair and clothing) were not showing up. I was using a No-CD patch so I wasn't running the game from the launcher. I thought that because the launcher had never been ran, that maybe I needed to "enable" the custom content thru it for it to show up. (I D/L'd, installed, and followed all the directions from the Sims 3 FIX folder)
I tried to run game that way and like everyone else who plays got the message about "Sims3Launcher has encountered a problem and needs to close, yada yada yada". Since I never had a problem with this when it was previously installed, I thought it might have something to do with the Pets expansion pack.
I uninstalled that, ran the game and it worked fine, but still no custom content. I totally uninstalled all the expansion packs and the base game, deleted any residual folders and all their contents, and even ran YourUninstaller Pro to make sure nothing was missed.
I installed just the base game and tried once again to run it via the launcher and still nothing. I can run the game if I go under the program files and access it that way. I do not have any patches or custom content at installed at this time.
Is there a fix for this so that my custom content will show up? Or any other way to enable it?
Thanks in advance for any help.
Cheers,
Chicklet

Re: SIMS 3 CLEAN INSTALL/GAME LAUNCHER FAILURE
Hello,
First of all, I'm not very good with CC and Mods issues - Lady ElDi should be able to provide better help, but she's away for a while -, but I'll try to help.
Let's see. What version does your game's launcher show?
Also, try this: https://games4theworld.forumotion.com/t2208-sims3pack-installed-world-inaccessible-or-wont-install-fix

Re: SIMS 3 CLEAN INSTALL/GAME LAUNCHER FAILURE
Thanks for repsonding. Actually that is the biggest issue I'm having .... unless there's another way to determine which game launcher I'm using, I can't get it to run without that error I mentioned in my first post. I don't care to actually USE the launcher to start my game, I just wanted to check if there's a button or something that needs to be checked to "enable" it in the game so that anything I D/L WILL show up.
If there isn't something that needs to be checked off thru the launcher, then I won't worry about it and just load the game from the shortcut I created.

CC / Mods are activated automatically. There ís an option to turn them off, but you don't need it, I assume.

Re: SIMS 3 CLEAN INSTALL/GAME LAUNCHER FAILURE
Thanks so much for answering that question. I have just given up on playing Sims 3 for now tho, it's not worth spending hours and hours trying to find a solution and I'm stubborn, I don't play the game without mods, hacks, and lots of cc and if they're not working or showing up forget it, I'll go back to Sims 2 which was fun and easy.
But, again I thank everyone here for their hard work and knowledge in helping everyone.
Cheers and Happy Simming!

It's sad to see that you gave up. I'm sorry, I don't have a lot of knowledge about CC and Mods. Perhaps Lady ElDi can provide more advice when she's back.
Also note that the game has been updated to v1.29, which makes a lot of CC and Mods outdated. You need to update them, in order to make them work. (IF you're using the latest version of the game. If you're still playing on v1.26, still update them and see if it makes any difference)
Ah, oldskool can be fun too! Have fun playing!
