can't update the sims 3. [SOLVED]

hello everyone...
so i decide to play the sims 3 yesterday and it asks me to update (my sims 3 and expansion packs have been downloaded from G4TW). it refuses to do it through the game launcher and gives me an error saying there is an invalid file found.
so next i try the ultimate fix... have you guys ever thought about making an installer for this? lolz. so it's a little confusing but i did it before and got it working, only this time nothing. same error with the launcher, and if i try and start the game i get that warning message saying i'm playing an unofficial copy and do i want to continue. so i continue... i even get to load a new town, but as soon as i went to edit a house and move objects it crashes with "the sims 3 has stopped working"... ive tried a few times and i get the same problem. the launcher is also saying it's not updated yet =/
any help would be much appreciated... thanks

sorry... it says unofficial game modification, not unofficial copy of the game

Hello,
When applying the fix, when you get to step 13, in stead of opening the launcher to update, update manually. Make sure you get the latest official fix though.
