The Sims 1 Original Maxis Items (Get Cool Stuff)?
Hello everyone,
I'm looking to possibly download the Sims 1 Ultimate Collection, but I was wondering if the bundle contained the items originally created by Maxis and put for download on their old site (see the archive here: http://web.archive.org/web/20041208024244/http://thesims.ea.com:80/us/index.html?menu=getcool&content=getcool/ )
Can anyone with the g4tw version of the game tell me if these items are there, and if not, where I can get them without a registered copy of the game? Thank you!

No, they are not included in downloaded games.

Re: The Sims 1 Original Maxis Items (Get Cool Stuff)?
Hmmm... I'm getting conflicted information. Researching sims wikis (and the Maxis official website) I'm seeing that some items are labeled as having been included in some collections. It's difficult to pinpoint which were and which weren't without knowing exactly which files to look for in the folders though.
Physical Skins:
Give your Sims a total body makeover with some very special new skins for your game. You have to see these to believe them! Just download the file to your desktop, then double-click the icon to install them.
(These skins are made available in Living Large, Deluxe, and Double Deluxe.)
Skin Pack One:
Male Warrior, Female Warrior, Sleuth, Boy Wizard, Girl Wizard ... add them all to your Skins collection! Then create your own fantasy and mystery stories!
(These skins are made available in Living Large, Deluxe, and Double Deluxe.)
Attention Superstar and Makin' Magic Users: Many of the downloads listed below were included with your game. Only downloads that specifically listed for Superstar or Makin' Magic in the description will work correctly. Downloading other items and using them in your game may cause crashes.

Re: The Sims 1 Original Maxis Items (Get Cool Stuff)?
Okay, I've downloaded the game and checked myself... I can definitely see that some of the items in the Get Cool Stuff section of Maxis's site are already there. It will take me a while to see if they are all there, but this one should be the most recent addition, so others should be there too right?
I don't know how to verify skins though, so for that I'd like a bit of help from someone who is into data files more than I am. please let me know.

Re: The Sims 1 Original Maxis Items (Get Cool Stuff)?
Here's my findings so far:
The following "Get Cool Stuff!" Official Maxis DLCs are included in the Sims Complete Collection:
- "Thrifty Second-Hand Dormroom Furniture" (Precarious Designs D.I.Y. Bookshelf, Comfortably Distressed Easy Chair, The Gloominator Desk Lamp, The Sims University Pennant, Refreshing Beverage Sculpture, Senor Tinnitis' Box o' Boom)
- "Table Soccer" (Soccer of the Hand and Mind)
- "Magical Cabinet" (MagiCo's Bookshelf of Dimensional Storage)
- "Cytherea Asilus Casses or Carnivorous Plant"
- "12 Steps in Stone"
- "Stray-Away" Pet Prevention System
- "Disaster Fizz Automated Vendor"
The following "Get Cool Stuff!" Official Maxis DLC seem to be missing in the Sims Complete Collection:
- All the entries in the Houses section
- "Green Bedroom Set" (Note: two very similar objects are included: Crimson Collection Nightstand and Crimson Collection Bed, but a dresser counterpart is missing)
- "12 Steps in Stone - Reversed"
- Intel "The Gila Monster"
- "McDonald's Food Kiosk"
What I couldn't verify:
- Sims and Pets Skins Section
- "Fun House Track Extensions" (Fun House Track 4x1, Fun House Track Loop)
- "New TV Commercials"
- "Double Deluxe Object Pack Download #1 of 3"
- "Double Deluxe Object Pack Download #2 of 3"
- "Double Deluxe Object Pack Download #3 of 3"
- French Column (There are several columns with a french-ish name, so unless it was actually called "French Column" in game, I couldn't know if it's one of them or not)
- "Unleashed Shrimp Cart"
I'll continue tomorrow to see what more I can find.

Packed in the game are 66 additional objects.
You can find these in the folder Downloads.
Houses, sims e.a. are not stored in Downloads but in UserData\Houses

Re: The Sims 1 Original Maxis Items (Get Cool Stuff)?
yeah, the problem though is that I don't know what the Get Cool Stuff items are named as files, since they cannot be downloaded from that website without a registrated copy. I've found them in simsdepot.com and simechoes.org.
BUT the downloads are .exe files so they would directly go into the game (instead of being files that I just drag and drop in their due folder like for cracked items), and I'm a bit iffy about doing that yet, since I'm unfamiliar with these sources and I don't know how they would impact my game. So right now I'm hesitant.

Have you ever tried The Add-on-Handler
You can see what is included in your game and also places downloads in the correct category.

Thanks for the tip. I tried, but the handler doesn't support the sim's .exe files.
I may have to install them manually and cross my fingers that it doesn't conflict with the game in a bad way.
