Updated with latest patches but previous game files are gone?

Hey,

I just downloaded the latest two game packs updates and installed them, yet when I start up the new game in the new "game" folder (so not the one you had to rename to game_) it starts up as if its the first time I've played the game instead of starting up with my previous game files.
Does anyone have any idea what caused this? Is it because I still have the old "game_" folder in my sims 4 folder or did I do something (stupidly) wrong while installing?

Any help is greatly appreciated! I'm a little too scared to try things by myself in case I completely ruin my chances of getting my old files back..
