Not to one side or the other, but just to the middle, as if it was a regular object?

If it's not possible, are there any mods that make it possible?

You can build a wall where ever you like.

I see what you mean. You can't do that normally. I can scout around for a mod or cheat, but I'm not sure I'll be able to do that today, if I can find it at all.

I'll appreciate it. Because I'm building the home of Gregory House M.D. (hope you know who this is) and in order to be precise it's important to be able to build walls "between the lines".
