Problem with custom content

Hey there, I've been having a problem with custom content. I have went through what seems to be just about every post on here and nothing has helped. I have ticked to allow custom content and scrips, checked the folders to make sure they are in documents and they are. I have made sure the register file there is correct and everything seems to be fine. I still can't get any custom sims or lots to appear though outside of what is already in the game and the sims I have already made. I'm getting no error messages and the game runs well so no issues there, just can't seem to get any custom content to work. No pop ups or anything! No idea what to try next so I thought I should ask. One thing to take note is to not put the CCs/Mods under a lot of different folders. Perhaps you can screenshot your mods folder? And you can also tell me what CCs is not showing up, one or two will do, and I'll see if my game can detect it on my end.

Also keep in mind that a lot of CAS-item-CCs, are in fact "only" recolors of existing EA items. That means, when you go into the CAS, they will oftentimes not get a separate preview window (thumbnail), so you have to unfold the thumbnails of existing items and then look for the new color or pattern.

This is what my mods folder is, there's nothing crazy just some lots and a sim or two. I tried two different sites to see if it might have been the type of content or something wrong with them, but nothing came up at all. I don't have them in different folders or anything since I don't have too awfully many. I'm just trying mainly to download some residential lots.

Hi @kitty0693 , Very Happy

It looks like the thing you're trying to load is lots/houses, correct? If so, they should instead be under Tray folder and not the Mods folder. Basically, the two folders should not be mixed up or 'combine' together to get the CCs/Lots working.

Tray folder -> All your downloaded lots, houses and even your own household will be stored here. There is no need for the resource.cfg file.

Mods folder -> Custom Content (CC) which includeds hair, clothing, furniture (etc). Also scripted mods will be placed here. They should end with .package.

It still isn't showing any of the custom lots or sims Sad

I moved the lots and the sims to the tray folder and then cut out the resource file but kept a copy on my desktop just in case but still nothing.

Hmm. It should appear in your gallery. Make sure you have the 'include custom content check.' Perhaps you could tell me what lot you downloaded so I can test it out?

I can't post an actual link to one of the house lots I downloaded. Im not sure how to get the file to you. I also made sure I ticked the custom content allowed and scripts allowed boxes. I also have a custom Sim from the actual Sims 4 gallery but not sure if I can even get those. My game doesn't connect to any outside source so it stays offline. Not sure if that has anything to do with it or not.

You can just tell me the name and the creator as well and I'll see if searching for it comes up.

The checkbox you need to tick is actually under the gallery and not the in-game settings itself. Sometimes, you also need to enable cheat and then type in "bb.moveobjects"

Yes I've done that and still nothing in my gallery Sad

melcastro91 is the artist name on the sims resource and the house is Redpeak - NO CC! I will try the bb.moveobjects cheat and see if that works.

I used both bb.moveobjects and bb.showhiddenobjects and the house showed up in the gallery. However, I can't placed it since it said it was built on a newer version. (lol). I'll try to restart my game and see what happens. IAmSoHappyEmergahwd

Ok I got one house to work, but none of the others nor the custom sim. It says I need an update? I will download the fix+update for the sims 4 and see if that does anything. I thought I already had the latest, but maybe not. They do update constantly D:

If you are already at Toddler's Stuff, then that is the latest for our version. Do not download any ultimate fix or any other fix you find, since it will delete your DLCs. Perhaps the houses are built on 1.34, and it won't work for us with 1.33.

The only problem I am having now is getting a custom sim to show up in my gallery. I finally fiddled around and tweaked things a bit and got the houses to show up (a bit of trial and error lol) I still can't seem to get custom sims to show though no matter how hard I try Sad

They don't have anything special like hair mods or anything they're just simple and base game they're just well done (much better than I could do lol) any idea on why they may not be working? Maybe it has something to do with the update?

I do know it says RDL or something in the gallery (RLD?) and doesnt connect through internet. Could that be the issue at all?

As far as my (searching the google) knowledge goes, it seems to be an in-game bug that happens with the legit game as well. I'll link the external site for you here, so perhaps you can browse it, since I myself am not familiar with this. If you happen to delete a downloaded room/lot, then this RDL error might show up.
