Installed Sims 4 today, CAS works, but no Worlds show up?? [SOLVED]

So I just installed the latest version of the Sims 4 today according to the instructions, installed the different packs in order, the game booted up and I made my sim - everything in CAS works fine, but the Worlds screen was just blank?

Here's what I mean.



There's nothing there at all, absolutely nothing, just a blank screen. I restarted my laptop, nope, still the same. no worlds or neighbourhoods. The gallery also had no community lots (the ones already placed in the worlds in the typical game) and I haven't installed any cc at all. 

If there's one hitch that might have happened, it could be: while I was installing sims 4, there's a part in the instructions that says to delete the 'game_' file. obediently, I looked through the sims 4 file, but it just wasn't there at all, so I had nothing to delete. Even with ctrl+f, nothing came up.

Help please!
