It just won't work!
I know how stupid the title must sound considering how many topics there are around fixing the sims 3, but it feels like I've tried everything and it just isn't working. (PS, if this is in the wrong forum, please just redirect me, I really need help with this). Also I want to clarify that before I made my account, I searched the forum as much as I can and tried as many solutions as I could fine, but none of them seemed to help. Maybe I did something wrong.
Breakdown of the issue:
The sims works fine, I add some Sims3Packs, it still works fine, I add a few more, I get the "Launcher Error, see log for more details" thing.
At first I put it down to bad sims 3 custom content, so I tried the 50/50 method, only to find that it isn't one specific bit of CC that's causing the problem, it's just that at a random interval after installing some CC, the launcher will decide it's had enough and break.
So I tried uninstalling and reinstalling after clearing the registry like I've seen online. Same issue.
I followed those steps as closely as I could, and it did nothing. I've uninstalled and re-installed about a million times and it doesn't seem to make any difference whatsoever.
I've tried the patches, the ultimate fix, and my computer is definitely capable of running it, as it used to run fine a few months ago, even with all the CC I wanted.
I was hoping someone would be willing to help me through from start to finish, from a full, clean uninstall (even if it means redownloading it altogether although I'd prefer not to do that unless it's completely necessary) to get me to a point where the game will run with my CC without throwing a fit.
Also, I know some will suggest I run the game with less, or without the CC, but it's important to me that I keep as much of it as I can. It hasn't caused a problem in the past, it's just with my latest attempt, everything seems to be going wrong.
Thank you to anyone who is patient enough to help me deal with this. I'll provide any information about my system if it's needed.

Hello and welcome to the Forum @S_Lily,
Did you at some point simply try re-applying the 1.67 manual patch and then the "Ultimate Fix" as well, as laid out in steps #2, #4 and #5 here?
https://games4theworld.forumotion.com/t1171-must-read-how-to-install-the-sims-3-correctly
The other thing to keep in mind is that 'blindly' uninstalling and re-installing games/software is a widespread belief, but ultimately it should be done very carefully because if not done properly it can cause more issues. In general, taken to the extreme, unless absolutely necessary one should not uninstall anything under Windows OS. For example, oftentimes people forget to re-boot the computer after uninstalling things.
And, have you also attempted this possible solution here?

The issue is, the game works fine the first few times I run it, then will just start coming up with the error message. The only change I make is adding CC, but I do it in a different order every time and I've checked my files so I'm sure it's not a corrupted CC issue.

Go under C:\Program files (x86)\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Game\Bin. Make sure that your TS3 launcher is closed. Now, in the folder path I just gave you look for a TS3W.exe file. Use this .exe file to open the game.
If it brings up an error message, please post the exact wording here, or upload a screenshot of it.
Also, may I ask what CC items specifically you are using?

Re: It just won't work!
Okay, there's no need to be condescending. The reason I'm confused about this is because it doesn't seem to be one single item of custom content that it has a problem with. What I mean is, I have my custom content separated by department. So if I, for example, add custom wallpapers, floors and windows, the game will work fine. Then I add, for example, doors, and it will crash. So I go back, reinstall the doors first, and the game will work fine. Then, the custom walls, floor and windows will also work, fine. Then I add, for example, beds, and it causes another problem. I imagine the CC probably does have something to do with it, I was just hoping there was a solution that doesn't involve deleting it all.Polarbear wrote:When the game works fine before you add CC and "all of a sudden" there are problems when CC is added.
Guess what the reason is ?
//EDIT
I don't seem to be getting any errors when I actually run the game. It's just the launcher that's causing problems. And did you just want a list of the CC I'm currently using? Because it's pretty long.The_gh0stm4n wrote:S_Lily wrote:I tried everything you suggested and it still hasn't seemed to help at all.

Re: It just won't work!
It does happen from time to time that certain subsets of custom content are "interrelated" in a way that they are meant to be used in their entirety - or not at all. In my experience that is very rare, but as said from time to time you have these cases. If you suspect this could apply to you, feel free to upload your "Mods"-folder here (use a filehosting service like MEGA or MediaFire, or similar ones) and we shall test it.
Other than that, at present I can't give you another more comfortable solution that not using these specific CC items at all.
Edit: so by using the TS3W.exe, the game runs fine?

Re: It just won't work!
I can do that at another time, but I'll post as soon as I've done it. And yeah, that's what's so irritating, the game seems to work with no problems but I need the launcher in order to install the rest of the content I wanted added. I know there's the sims 3 unpacker that can turn sims3packs into package files but the last time I used that, it caused some problems in my game.The_gh0stm4n wrote:It does happen from time to time that certain subsets of custom content are "interrelated" in a way that they are meant to be used in their entirety - or not at all. Please do, but I would not use the "unpacker" just like that. In theory it should be unproblematic, but I myself prefer using CC that is already (by the creator's hand) provided in .package format. If I use many .package files, then I just try merging them with S3PE (Sims 3 Package Editor).
Oh, and @Polarbear, if you decide to spend your valuable time replying to people on here make sure to put that passive-aggressive undertone aside, will you? And please? Or don't post at all on here if you don't agree with this principle - as I asked you multiple times already.
