Language problem, any advice? [SOLVED]
Hey, I've been playing Sims 4 thanks to you guys ever since it came up. I obviously have all of the game packs installed and it's been worked just fine. Until now.
I had my game in Norwegian, but today when I launched it it was in English.
I first of all tried to change the language through the RLD origin file (I've seen the tutorial on it) and I changed it from en_US to no_NO. When I launched the game it was a mess, there was no text at all just random numbers and blank spaces where the text would normally be.
Thankfully I took a copy of that file just in case it went wrong which it did.
I then went over to Regedit to take a look at the settings there, and it was set to the wanted language.
I'm posting a screenshot of what it looks like. But from what I could tell it seemed to be correctly.
However I am no expert at all, and I could have missed something, if that is the case I apologize for that. In fact I feel kind of terrible for writing this message in the first place as I should have been thankful that I get to play this game at all without paying for it.
I'd LOVE to learn how to solve this though, because having the gameplay in Norwegian makes it so much more fun for me as I've been playing Sims in Norwegian for years and it's such a special thing to me
Also, I always run my game as administrator. And I've been searching on this forum for the answer but I didn't find anything that matched my situation. I could have missed it though, it's almost 4 AM and I'm a bit frustrated haha.
I hope this post reaches you guys and you are able to help, it would have been highly appreciated! I adore you guys for helping people having these overpriced games without having to pay for it, it really warms a poor students heart
For some reason the picture didn't show up. So I'll add a link so you can see it. I hope that is okay.

For some reason it seems like I don't have the GFD binary (?)

In the registry look under SOFTWARE for Maxis -> The Sims 4, so not under WOW6432Node.
It looks like you are missing the Norwegian language strings for the game.
You can download the folders containing all 17 available languages HERE
Extract Talen.rar with Winrar and copy all folders to your install folder (f.e. C:\Program Files (x86)\The Sims 4, or wherever you installed the game on your computer)
Start the game again as an Administrator

Thank you for the link! I downloaded the link you added here, but I restarted my computer and went into regedit again and this time it said that the language was set to en_US so I changed it back into no_NO. After I did this and launched my game it was back to Norwegian again. However I'm keeping the file you sent me in case it happens again! Thank you so much for you help!Tarac wrote:In the registry look under SOFTWARE for Maxis -> The Sims 4, so not under WOW6432Node.

Hello,
Keep in mind that if you downloaded up to and including the latest available DLC release from Games4theworld - at the time I am writing this, it's the "Laundry Day Stuffpack" - then you will also have ALL language strings.
The person who creates those cracks (and is the source where we get these updates from, and forms the basis on which we create those repacks) only has access to an American Origin version of The Sims 4, and for reasons which I do not quite understand, these American games only have English and Spanish as in-game languages. Maybe the intention is to make it less likely for the - American - audience to mess up and accidentally change the language "to something incomprehensible". But that's just a theory from me.
Anyhow, we are waiting for another person, who then supplies those language strings.
Did you need any more help for the moment, or can we mark the topic as "solved"?

Through Origin or ZLOrigin you can obtain all language-files but that is extremely time consuming, reason why your "contact" sticks to English and Spanish only.
For each and every language you'll have to, more or less, re-install the game again. The more DLC's the longer it takes per language

I admit I did not know that (I was under the impression that in European versions, all language strings were included "automatically" in one and the same setup). As for the source, maybe it's more than one person working on these language patches. Or, it's one person who has simultaneous access to 17 different installations of the game...
