Origin Seems to Be Running, Orange is Unable to Connect. Empty Origin Seems to Be Running, Orange is Unable to Connect.

Post by Guest Sun 18 Mar 2018, 21:02

So I've installed and downloaded Sims 4 here for a pretty long time, and I am very aware of the instructions provided, and I've gone over them a couple of times.  I've added security exceptions in Sophos for both the update files provided in rar, and each folder locations for my game. I've reinstalled about two times, and deleted the Origin.RLD files.  I've checked Sophos and I haven't found any files in quarantine. But it seems each time I try to load the game I'm getting the "Origin Seems to Be Running, Orange is unable to connect" and "Application was unable to start correctly (0xc0000142) . I've checked both my Task Manager and Services files and Origin isn't running at all. So I'm not sure what would be causing this error. And the weird thing is about three days ago the game was working fine. I'm just wondering if anyone had similar issues, and knew any solutions.

Thanks for taking the time to read and troubleshoot.

 I'm going to double check if maybe mods are causing the problem, but I'm unsure how that would affect the Orange file, since it's supposed to be an Origin simulator.

//EDIT

Whelp I managed to figure it out, looks like it was a mod conflict. Most likely a script mod conflict. I do still get the same error, but the game does load up.

Welcome to the Forum @breaksomemachines,

If you suspect mods to be the issue, try also this. Go under Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4\ and delete the following:

Origin Seems to Be Running, Orange is Unable to Connect. Icon_arrow  localthumbschace.package
Origin Seems to Be Running, Orange is Unable to Connect. Icon_arrow  the contents inside folder "cache" (not the actual "cache" folder though!)
Origin Seems to Be Running, Orange is Unable to Connect. Icon_arrow  and the contents inside the folder "cachestr" (not the actual "cachestr" folder though!)

However, bear in mind that in certain cases, anti-virus programs do not (easily) 'accept' input from users, so even if exclusion seem to have been configured properly, things get destroyed or deleted.

I would also recommend this. If you have a program named "Lavasoft Web Companion" installed on your computer, please uninstall that. Do you happen to have ZLOrigin though? If yes, make sure ZClient/ZLOrigin are completely logged off/signed out as well.

Good luck!
