Can sims 4 and sims 3 files be in the same place?

I have sims 3 and i'm downloading sims 4. I've already downloaded and installed the base game of sims 4. I'm on step #3, the instruction guide for get to work says to drag and drop the flies to the folder I have sims 4 in. Sims 3 and Sims 4 are both in C:\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts, by putting the files here will it interfere with my sims 3 game? or should I move my sims 4 files somewhere else?If I should move it where should I put it?

Don't put Sims 4 files in the same folder as the Sims 3 and also not in Electronic Arts.

So MOVE (not copy) the folder The Sims 4 out of the folder Electronic Arts to just Program Files (x86)
