Sims 3 crashes whenever I play it

I downloaded and installed The Sims 3 on my new computer, a Lenovo that's running Windows 10. However, whenever I play the game, it will randomly crash- either the game will crash and a window will appear saying "The Sims 3 has stopped responding," or my entire computer will freeze up and I'll have to restart the whole thing. 
The first time I started the game, it told me that my graphics card "wasn't recognized in its database" and that the game might have graphical errors. I assumed these crashes could have been because of that and I turned all of the graphics down as low as they could go, but the game continued to crash.
But I'm actually not so sure that these crashes have anything to do with my graphics card. There's never any graphical errors or glitches or anything like that when I play. In fact, other than the fact that the game crashes, it runs pretty well. The game doesn't lag or anything like that just before it crashes. From what I can tell, the crashes occur completely at random; the game could crash a few minutes into gameplay or even after a whole hour of playing perfectly fine.
A friend of mine told me that my computer might not have adobe on it yet and that if I download it, the game might run properly. I did that, but it did me no good. She also told me that it doesn't make sense that the game wouldn't be able to read my graphics card since my computer is new.

Does anyone know what could be causing these crashes, or if it really is my graphics card not being compatible with the game? If it is my graphics card, is there anything I can do about this, or am I stuck playing The Sims 3 on my old computer?
Please forgive me if I've asked any stupid questions, I don't know anything about computers or computer gaming.

Which version of the game did you install? G4TW complete/individual? Origin? Are you using any mods? If so, which ones? What patch level are you at? 1.67? 1.69?

Me too. Download game from G4TW. Game randomly shut down.

CPU: Intel Core i7
Graphic: GeForce GTX 1050 Ti
RAM: 4 GB

Now, I decrease some graphic setting. Not sure that is solution or not. But it seems better. Didn't randomly game shut down.
Hope it will not happen again.

I can play The Sims 4 with max graphic settings but not The Sims 3.
Maybe game too old or it consumes very high resource.
