Sims create household not working

When I attempt to create new sim if I change anything on the sim (hair, makeup, clothes etc) the face in the lower corner starts circling and when you click to save household and add instead of showing the sim it circles like its loading and wont budge. it stayed that way for hours tonight until I gave up and ended its misery by shutting the game down. No error messages just circling. have an hp pavilion 24 that's only 10 mos. old so I know it isn't my computer and this is not the first update it has happened with. I have a 15 yr old in need of her sims 4 fix someone help a mama out here.  Thank you

Go to Documents\Electronic Arts and move The Sims 4 folder to desktop. This will start the game fresh, you can move saves back later. If that doesn't solve the problem, run the validator (in quick scan mode) and post the result here.

I made an md5 file but I cannot figure out how to do the quick scan.

Have you tried removing your existing Game folder from Program Files(x86)\The Sims 4  and replace it with the Game folder from the extracted download of your your highest installed DLC ?

Just check "Quick scan" checkbox. But if you made .md5 file already you can do a normal scan. Select .md5 file in first file picker, and The Sims 4 installation folder in second file picker.
