Downloads not working and registry question Empty Downloads not working and registry question

Post by Guest Sat 09 Mar 2019, 02:09

The all-in-strangerville torrent doesn't download.

The latest update - most links no longer work.

When going by the step by step process to install - strangerville is not listed on there.  I already did the update.  Can I put strangerville on over that or will it not work?  Should I wait to add it after next update?

Question here:  In the install instructions it says:  NOTE 4: If you have your game installed on a non-C: drive, you may also need to change the registry entries
to accomodate the particular hard-drive the game is installed in. Press the Windows key + R. Type "regedit"
in the small window, and hit Enter. Now edit the drive letter under "GDFBinary"and "InstallDir", here:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE -> Software -> Maxis -> The Sims 4

And edit the drive letter under "GDFBinary", "GDFBinary64" and "InstallDir", here:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE -> Software -> Wow6432Node -> Maxis -> The Sims 4

I DO NOT HAVE HKLM/SOFTWARE/MAXIS - Does that matter?

AND THE LOCATION OF THE OTHER REG IS LISTED AS: D:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\The Sims 4\__Installer\GDFBinary_en_US.dll  SHOULD I CHANGE THIS ADDRESS TO : D:\Program Files\The Sims 4?

I haven't added strangerville, things are just as noted above but I have launched the game.  On the side where it shows the packs, etc., these ones are missing:  Cats & Dogs, Fitness, Get Famous, Jungle Adventure, Laundry, My First Pet, Parenthood even though I installed them.  Does this have anything to do with renaming the game files to game_?  How do I get all these to work?  Or does the registry need show the location instead of what is noted above?

I wish there was a way to edit my previous posts rather than having to reply to them so sorry for the multiple posts.

It looks like I got it all going correctly except haven't put in strangerville until I find out if it's okay or if I need to wait until next update so if you have time let me know.  I corrected directory to point to where I have things installed.  Made sure have the latest version update.  Looking good!!!!  THANK YOU  THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!!!!

OH WAIT ONE MORE THING:  Pets and stuff like that require an internet connection...I see literally no way to enter my details to login.  Am I missing something?  Or is there another way to access that stuff?

To be honest you don't need those registry keys, the game works fine without them. You can keep your game wherever you want but some people were getting errors when the path was too long, so it's recommended to keep it short. "D:\Program Files\The Sims 4" should be fine.

Don't click on DLC icons, just click on play button. You don't play one DLC at a time, that would be stupid. Everything is in the game already.

And just to be sure: have you solved all your problems with the game? If not, run the validator and post the result here. This gives basic information about your game.

By all means...

In the event that happens (sometimes the advertiser's services are down), you can right-click on the download link(s) here and copy them into your browser mask or someplace else. Remove the portion of the URL about the "link-to.net", and you got the source URL containing the download.

We are using this method of advertising to help us finance the "premium features" of the Forum, and maybe some new platforms that may come in the future.

publicmisc wrote:Or does the registry need show the location instead of what is noted above?

I don't think the location in the registry matters at all. Primarily, these registry entries are there for you to change the Locale (in-game display language), if you want. Also, I believe if you hypothetically delete these entries altogether, they will be re-created the next time you start up the game, though I am not 100% sure, admittedly.

Also, we have disabled the ability for normal users to edit/delete their submissions, except for some of the sections on here (particularly the Tips & Fixes). It was being abused too often; like people retro-actively deleting their messages in an on-going discussion and then disrupting the "flow".

You may not agree with this method of administration, and that's fine I guess. But the policy stands-as-is, regardless. I was thinking of installing a 15 minute-limit on editing/deleting one's own messages, but that would have affected the entire Forum. And since we got some people who work on the guides regularly on here, such a limit would have been an obstacle. Therefore, we blocked the edit-ability altogether, except for some specific sections. Maybe in the future we can somehow work around the issue and fine-tune the permissions, but for now it is what it is. Partly also thanks to Forumotion's (awful) Forum software here.

Editing/not editing...it's all good.  I concur about flow.  Just hated to have you have all these messages.  haha  I seem to have it all working but it sure has changed since I played some time ago.  It seems very difficult to figure out.  I have a big M with a circle showing up all the time now.  Like a Maxis watermark during game play.  Unless I'm in some kind of mode that I don't recognize.  Are you familiar with a Big M with a circle like a magnifier glass or something?  Reminds me of big brother.  I used to love to play Sims but not finding it very fun anymore...can't find seeds, plants, move, or anything like I used to.  All the homes that I put in the tray - none of them show up.  Only my saved sim shows up.

Okay this is SUPER SUPER BAD

A Maxis logo appeared in the game and wouldn't go away.  It was big and towards the left of my screen.  I couldn't get rid of it.  I ran malwarebytes, etc. lots of pup type of stuff came up.  Mostly seemed to be within Chrome so I deleted Chrome.  Fixed those errors but the logo didn't go away.  That doggone Maxis logo continues to show up even in games from Big Fish.  So I completely deleted Sims 4 and all it's contents and every little thing to do with it.  I had no errors before the download and install of Sims 4.  The Maxis logo is still showing up and what is awful...it's MORE than just a logo.  In one of my games the doggone magnifine glass actually started using a pointer...not my mouse...but it developed a moving pointer like on a GPS or Magnifine search type of thing.  I tried to do a photo copy of it to show but the screen print didn't work.  This is super serious.  ALL my restore points are gone.  My windows defender definitions were messed up also.  I was able to do a sfc /scannow and it fixed the errors but the Maxis Logo thing is still showing up in ALL games that have been downloaded legally.  Has to be something in architecture.  But I feel like since the logo turns on into some type of remote search thing or something that some virus has gotten onto my computer that is able to read my contents even though remote settings are turned off.  I'm not entirely certain of this but I can't get it to go away.  I had NO issues until I downloaded your torrent.  I deleted all torrent and the SIMS 4 completely.  I have a legal copy of SIMS 4 through Origin that I will play if the hallmark thing goes away.  I have not distributed nor will I use the sims 4 through G4TW in anyway.  This is very scary.  Please help me get this thing off my machine.  I am trying to backup all my stuff in case I have to do a complete reinstall of windows as right now it feels as if the very architecture has been messed up.  I wouldn't have downloaded had I known it was unsafe.  Maybe, I'm naive but I thought you guys were part of EA making this possible for those of us who can't afford the big bucks for the big game and was using our designs/creations to make it better. Will never do that again.  Is there a hacker in your group that cannot be trusted or something?  PLEASE PLEASE HELP ME FIX THIS.

I can assure you that G4TW releases are clean. My repack too. Tarac's iso probably too but I never downloaded it. We all use the same files, the same crack, which comes from trusted scene group - CODEX. Whatever messed up your PC, it wasn't The Sims 4 downloaded from here. And I mean downloaded really from here. Because I've seen fake G4TW torrents on limetorrents and thepiratebay.

I doubt anyone can help you except for saying the obvious - next time make system restore point so you're not f*cked completely when you catch a virus.

I took the links directly from your site as I knew not to look elsewhere. And I know my machine was definitely clean beforehand. I'm wondering if it is not a hack but some weird architecture problem in something like rendering or 3d...don't know the names of programming stuff.

Not likely, especially considering the fact that G4TW - seemingly unbeknownst to most outsiders - does not normally "hack" or "crack" anything. Some exceptions include the No-CD files for The Sims 3 back then, as well as some of the older game/software releases. But for the most part, we re-pack stuff that other scene groups have originally created.

So I was nearly going to "obliterate" or "bust" your account (yes, I'm being frank with you). But decided you don't fit the typical pattern of a troll and also noticed something in your posting history here, which I'll detail in the next paragraph. Because, when someone comes here and says "My computer was totally fine, but when I downloaded something from Games4theworld ALL OF A SUDDEN my computer became a mess", then in 999 out of 1000 cases that is someone who is writing on behalf of the original copyright holders or some other agency representing their interests.

Now. There is no "architecture problem" or "hack" for that matter here. But I looked at your posting history, and noticed you seemed to have had hardware issues way back in 2013 already? Now I don't know if you are still using the same computer/hardware nowadays, that you used when you posted earlier on G4TW here. But following up on that, google for "Display Driver Un-installer", and try using it on your own system. If that does not do the trick, you'll indeed have to consider a re-install of Windows. And if that does not do the trick, there is still a chance of some more underlying hardware problem.

Regarding the trustworthiness of G4TW, @anadius already said what needs to be said. What you make of it in the end, is up to you of course. If you believe that these downloads are "virus-containing", then go your way by all means. Don't "use" them anymore. Don't "recommend" us further. And as far as I'm concerned you can go to Facebook/Twitter/Reddit/whatever and then write negatively about G4TW, for all I care.

We have a large-enough fanbase that has been following us since the beginning of G4TW. And if someone really came up to us and asked about some negative comment posted on some random external platform, I'll just dismiss it as an attempt from EA and/or whoever is writing on their behalf, to discredit us. You know, profit maximization. Or rather: the promise thereof (see the meme picture on top of the Forum in case you don't understand).

Have a cookie nonetheless:

//EDIT

Another thought: if these downloads are really full of viruses, where are the other complaint-threads, besides yours? I know what you're probably thinking: "that abusive admin is probably banning and deleting everything". But then, why do I take my time here to write nearly an essay in response to your complaint?

Maybe because in fact these complaints are very rare, and if they do happen, there is a chance of them being written by someone who simply disapproves of piracy, and wants to portray us in a bad light?

Post by Guest Thu 14 Mar 2019, 08:05

Hi, I'm sorry for freaking out.  I lost so much - my external harddrive with all my personal items all these years and of course, most everything on my pc.  Anyway, the good news, I figured out the location of the problem - it was in Nahimic Audio...don't know how it was done but some how it took Maxis logo and well, hard to even explain something I don't understand.  Wish I could post a picture for you to see.  I have no interest whatsoever in discrediting you or anyone else.  I was thrilled to be able to use Sims 4 but now of course, it's all deleted now.  Anyway, still want to thank you for everything.  IN THE EVENT...anyone comes to you with a similar issue tell them to open task manager while the issue is going on and one by one close the programs out until the issue goes away.  That is how I discovered it was Nahimic Audio.  God bless Smile
