Sims 4 FPS/ lagg issues

When I play the sims4 (complete up til get famous) I find that my game frequently freezes for a while every few minutes. Sometimes it just drops frames down to like 2-3fps. Is this a common problem or is there some sort of fix?

I don't post as much on these Support Forums anymore, and focus more on general commentary and the usual background stuff. I know it's unpleasant to not receive a reply, but unfortunately it is what it is. You can still try doing a search on here, though the actual search function on Forumotion's Forum is...not very good.

The most typical scenario for that lag are outdated and/or incompatible mods. But there are a few more things. Somewhere in the options there is a box called "laptop mode", try experimenting with ticking/un-ticking the box and seeing how or if it affects your game performance in any way.

Then there is the classic "turn down your graphics settings and see if it works out".

Are you getting these issues with other games too? It could also be an indicator of failing hardware, if yes. Had the issue myself many years ago, and literally scrambled to back up my Sims 3 stuff...    OK, it actually didn't turn out to be funny at all, since the hard-drive completely gave up shortly after that, and a new one had to be bought.
