Zoo Tycoon 2 No Tanks Windows 10 - fix.
After reading and trying a handful of fixes here and on other forums, I finally managed to fix the bug where tanks were not available to place (the tab is just not there). Additionally, this also solves the "setup.exe cannot run" error. (I'm not allowed to post links because I just made this account, but you can find the two programs mentioned pretty easily on Google).
TL;DR:
You need to make the installer think it's running from a disc. Make .ISO's from the entire zt2 folder, and name them ZT2UCD1, ZT2UCD2, ZT2UCD3 (idk if there is a forth). Bam, done.
Details:
1) After downloading the files from games4theworld (the version I used, but theoretically would work with any files copied from the discs), download and install Virtual CloneDrive (by elby) and download (no need for install) Folder2ISO (by trustfm).
2) Open Folder2ISO and make 3 (or 4, I'm did 4 just in case) iso images of zt2. For the folder, select the entire downloaded folder (with installation guide, crack, directx, etc.). For output, name it "ZT2UCD1.iso" and put it anywhere but the downloaded folder. For the label, call it "ZT2UCD1". Click "Generate ISO" and wait for it to finish. Then repeat the same process with the same source folder, but change the name and label to ...CD2, ...CD3, etc.
3) You now have 3 or 4 (identical) ISO's of zt2. Right click the virtual clonedrive icon in your taskbar and click settings. Change the number of drives to 4.
4) Right click on each iso you created and mount each to a different clonedrive slot.
5) Open windows explorer and under "devices and drives", double click the ZT2UCD1 drive. This will launch autorun. Follow the directions in the installer and it should go smoothly without a hitch. Nothing else needs to be done for ZT2 to work perfectly.

Welcome to the Forum @Prime624,
Thanks for sharing this! I think someone also hinted that these installation problems can be due to leftovers from older versions of Zoo Tycoon 2. I also wonder whether these issues can be caused by some sort of file/folder permission error, during the install process...

Re: Zoo Tycoon 2 No Tanks Windows 10 - fix.
I have also heard that alot about having a previous install, however I had not had a previous install but the installation didn't work for me. I was only able to play by launching the exe directly. I believe that is a different (and probably less common) issue.The_gh0stm4n wrote:Welcome to the Forum @Prime624,

I'll sticky this temporarily, and we shall wait for the feedback from other users before moving this to the "Non-Sims Fixes". Thanks again for the submission!

Still no luck. I have Win10 and I can't install the game due to 1628 error. Is there a solution for my problem?

The game installed successfully and I was able to play it yesterday but when I try to star it up again nothing happens. Also there is no icon for the game on the desktop and it doesn't appear on the start menu.
