Error. Unable to start. Empty Error. Unable to start.

Post by Guest Wed 08 May 2019, 15:40

Hi everyone.
I was playing the sims 4 base game without any problem. Then I downloaded get to work, and it was still playing without any problems. So yesterday I downloaded get together, city living, and the toddlers vampires and bowling. Then I installed them but afterwards it didn't work properly. I thought that maybe I missed a step so I decided to delete everything and start fresh. I installed the base game again and now I keep getting this error. After installing it again: Unable to start:
The contents of your user data directory were created by a newer version of the sims 4 and cannot be loaded. Please update your game via Origin to play. (d6f91ffb:29f00e76:00000000). I would appreciate any help.

Install all DLCs you downloaded first and we can try to fix it from there.

Go to Documents\Electronic Arts and move The Sims 4 folder to desktop. This will start the game fresh, you can move saves back later. If that doesn't solve the problem, run the validator and post the result here.

Slightly off-topic, but that reminds me of this comment here:
https://www.games4theworld.club/t29951p25-the-sims-4-toddlers-and-vampires-official-g4tw-release-out-now#174364

*Quite unfortunately* that person had to go, thereafter.  Very Happy  Like almost all of the old Admin's "Moderators".

Does it need internet connection?

Of course. First you need internet connection to open the webpage. Then, after selecting the folder, validator loads a file with file hashes, depending on detected game version. They weight ~100KB (that's smaller than this forum webpage).

First of all delete "GP02\__Installer" folder to clean up.

If you still get the same error ("contents of your user data directory were created by a newer version of the sims 4") you have 2 options:
1. Delete "Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4" - this will delete your saves too.
2. Update your game. You can use G4TW releases or my repack (link in description).
