The Sims 2 No neighborhoods/documents folder. [SOLVED]
Hello! I downloaded The Sims 2 Ultimate Collection, installed and cracked it, and the game opens with no problems (besides the low disc space prompt, but I'm assuming that's normal), however, pass the intro screen, it doesn't have any loaded neighborhoods, none of the pre-made Pleasantview, Strangtown, etc. I also wanted to mod the game, but there isn't a Sims 2 folder in my documents, so I decided to try and run it again, possibly create a new neighborhood just to get a my documents folder created, but I can't seem to move pass this page. I'm using the exe file in Fun with Pets folder (Sims2EP9.exe), and I get the loading screan for Fun with Pets, but the menu screen shows Mansion&Garden Stuff (I don't know if this information is needed, just thought I'd add it). I haven't installed anything from the extra folder yet, in the Winrar file, I just followed the on video instructions, and even the txt file instructions as a double check.
Am I missing something? Did I forget to add/click/arrange the folders in any way, somewhere? Is the neighborhood's supposed to be gone, and I get them somewhere else? Sorry if this has been asked, I've searched and couldn't find anything dealing with Sims 2, so I cracked and made an account. I'm at a loss.
I have photos, but I'm a new account, so I can't post them until 7 days: The menu just show a "create custom neighborhood" button, with no pre-made neighborhoods, and warns "This will create a new custom neighborhood without Lots or Sims. Continue?" and if I click "Yes", it opens a create custom neighborhood "window", but it's completely empty, with the right arrow button at the bottom grayed out so I can't continue any further.

Hello @Jiffie and welcome to the G4TW Forums,
Yes, the main menu of the game is supposed to show only "Fun with Pets". This here is the location of the folder:
If this doesn't show up on your end, try editing file/folder permissions manually.
https://www.games4theworld.club/t17678-permissions-error-when-copying-cracked-files-fix
This was written for the context of TS3, but you should be able to apply this to almost any (other) folder too. Start with the Documents-folder, specifically the EA GAMES portion. See if it changes anything with regards to the problem.
Another possibility would be to try using a different Windows-account. Or to take it further, this one here:
https://www.games4theworld.club/t32557-the-hidden-super-administrator-account-under-windows-10
But then, this is already some dubious territory, and I would only try this as a last resort.
Good luck for now!

Re: The Sims 2 No neighborhoods/documents folder. [SOLVED]
Thank you for the welcome, @The_gh0stm4n! I really love and appreciate this site, I've been a lurker for years.
Sorry for taking so long to respond, I was a little under the weather the next day, and then the Holiday came and took up my time, but I tinkered with trying to get this to work upon your advice. I've tried out your solutions, except for the very last resort one, as I'm not confident I'm computer savvy enough to know what I'm doing in that department.
Unfortunately nothing have worked for me, so I resorted to googling around and I've found that even the legit origin ultimate collection seems to be giving a lot of people trouble when it comes to generating the documents folder, though no one in my searches have managed to find a solution (I think besides just reinstalling/repairing through origin). I'm running Windows 10, and it seems this operating system is too different for such an old game, though I do believe it has something to do with permissions as you have said, as while I was trying out your tips, something of my computer deleted something (the crack file was still there), and I was getting "not installed" error messages when I tried to run it again through editing the permission (and again after reinstalling and attempting to go through the compatibility troubleshooter). I had to reinstall it several times, disabling my antivirus, to get it to turn on again, but still no luck in generating the document folder/neighborhoods. I think my computer is blocking something when I start up the silent installer, as I've downloaded a different installation of the TS ultimate collection somewhere else, and it played, generating a EA Games folder in my document folder.
I'm throwing in the towel on this one, but thank you for taking the time out to help, cracked Sims 2 have always given me trouble upon revisiting, but I do get my sims 3 and 4 from this site, and they work without a hitch!

Interesting stuff ... thanks for your feedback!
Permission problems are almost always an issue; the 'last resort' that I hinted at is not for everybody, as it could invite more problems down the road if you don't know what you're doing. For my part, using that Superadmin-account on Windows 10 saved me so much in terms of headaches, but again it's not for everybody.
I wonder if running that silent installer (or rather that Touchup.exe shortcut) as Administrator, does anything. Or maybe you tried that too and it didn't work?
If you get an error showing that the game is not installed, try re-applying those .reg files. I believe they are included in the G4TW TS2 Ultimate Collection, inside the #Extras folder. That can happen with any repack of TS2UC, by the way. Usually it happens when you run these "registry cleaner" tools such as CCleaner. But maybe some strange machinations within Windows 10 can also cause this.
I also recall, that I wrote something years ago here, about "several different Documents-folders", and although it was for Windows 7, maybe it still applies or at least has something to do with the issue you encountered? Under step .III) in the following guide.

Either way, I guess that'll do. Have fun, and I shall mark this topic as solved. Feel free to get back in touch with us again anytime!
