Save game problems

Hi there,
I've dl all the games off the website and installed using the guide recommended and also used the ultimate fix. It works fine and great (thank you very much) but when it comes to saving I am having problems with various things. When trying to Save I get an 'error code 16' message which pops up which means I am unable to save my game. I seem to get round this problem by using 'Save as' instead but when it comes to loading the game - more messages come up about encountering a problem with loading the save etc.
Any idea what it could be?

EDIT - Oh! an I have installed everything up to Master Suite Stuff - with the manual patch which was recommended also.

Hello,
That's a pretty common error and you can, as you found out, get around that by choosing "save as" instead of save, and never save&exit.
Though you can also get Twallan's error trap here, though you have to get the old 1.29 version and get the 1.31 version after you update to 1.31 when the fix has been updated.
That mod prevents these save game errors.

Tried the Twallan fix thing. Didn't work for me strangely? Do I put it in my mods/packages folder? it shows up as a mod on the neighbourhood screen but hasn't actually done or fixed anything.

EDIT - I made a game, saved it as soon as I got to the neighbourhood screen, went back to the main menu (without saving) now it says "a serious error has occurred 'etc'. What's going on

It runs in the background only popping up when needed. Are you still getting the error code 16?

It came up when I tried to normally save (not save as) but when I used save as and exited to the main menu I couldn't get into the game because a 'serious error'. It's really odd. What do you mean it runs in the background?

Hello,
You will occasionally get a small notificiation from error trap that an error was found.
If you go to My Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Saves and look for your save game, does it look like yoursavegame.sims3 or yoursavegame.sims3.bad? If it has the bad extension, the save game is corrupt and you might be able to salvage it by renaming yoursavegame.sims3.backup by removing the .backup part.

I'll give this a go, but is there any way to solve it for good? it would be quite annoying having to save it as a new name every time and then change the save files name in the save folder etc.

Nope, didn't work. The "serious error" thing came up. So I can't play a game of sims?

Yes but not your old save game, you'll have to start a new one, unfortunately. But to prevent loosing progress in the future, always "save as .." so you'll have a back up in case it gets corrupted.

Basically, everytime I load a game, it doesn't work :/
