Using Original Sims 3.[SOLVED]

I just downloaded the expansion and stuff packs from you guys, and in the instructions it says that I should have you guys' version of the sims 3. Do I need to? Or can I use it like that and change the regional code of my original? Thanks

Well I decided to just change it either way but when It asks me to update the game in the installer, I click to continue and it says there was an error and the installation can't continue -.- Any help?
